Kentucky Sports Betting

The countdown for Kentucky mobile sports betting is well underway. Even before mobile apps go live Thursday, lawmakers have expanded the betting options that will be available. The sports betting catalog has been updated to include five more sporting events. Locals now have more ways to play ahead of the official launch.

Kentucky Betting Options Expand

The new options added to the catalog have granted bettors more ways to play. Kentucky was already home to a very diverse supply of betting lines compared to other markets. Now there are even more options, including Formula 1, Bellator, and the National Rugby League in Australia.

Added Sports Betting Options In Kentucky:

  • Bellator MMA
  • Formula 1
  • Professional Fighters League
  • National Rugby League (Australia)
  • Universal Tennis League

Kentucky bettors will be able to wager on these going forward at retail sportsbooks. Additionally, online sports betting launches Thursday and these options will be available on mobile apps. The Kentucky Horse Racing Commission has the authority to add more options to the catalog. This may not be the final selection of betting lines at Kentucky sportsbooks.

One thing that will not be found at Kentucky sportsbooks is team sports with minors competing. This was clarified by KHRC Director of Sports Wagering Hans Stokke. However, individual events between minors like golf or tennis will be able to be wagered on

“The limitations for age restrictions for regulations pertain to team events where more than half of the team is under 18,” said Stokke. “Individual sports, where minors are competing in a professional context, is permissible.”

Mobile Betting Apps Incoming

These additions come only days away from the launch of mobile betting in Kentucky. Kentucky has worked for months to bring the market during the early weeks of the NFL season. Retail sports betting launched first back on Sept. 7. During the first two weeks of betting, $4.5 million in wagers.

“It has taken many years to get here, but sports wagering is finally a reality in Kentucky,” continued Beshar. “This is a win-win for Kentuckians, who can enjoy a quality entertainment experience and benefit from funds staying right here in our state to help us build a better Kentucky.”

Additionally, more than 60,000 residents have already pre-registered for mobile sportsbooks in Kentucky. With mobile betting incoming, residents will soon be able to wager from anywhere in the state on all the sports betting options in the catalog.
