What Are The Latest Kentucky Derby Odds With Forte Scratched?

Forte Odds

On Saturday morning, owner Mike Repole was told by the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission that Forte odds would be scratched from the race. Veterinarian Nick Smith was said to be concerned about Forte’s bruised right front foot.

Following this shocking news, let’s reveal which horses are now favored on the Kentucky Derby odds board. Keep in mind, Forte odds were expected to close in that position.

Kentucky Derby Odds Without Forte

Fort was priced as the 3-1 morning-line favorite after Monday’s post-position draw. He was still set as the favorite (4-1) before his removal from the field. With that in mind, Tapit Trice and Angel of Empire are currently co-favorites at 9-2.

Some bettors, including FOX Sports’ Chris Fallica on TheLines podcast, already planned to fade Forte. For those thinking in this fashion, there’s presumably lost value for the remaining contestants with the expected odds adjustment.

However, there were already rumors on Friday night that Forte may not end up racing, causing a bit of market movement.

Forte represents the fifth scratch of the 2023 Kentucky Derby — the most since 1936.

Back to the board, Tapit Trice has a four-race winning streak on his resume. Those victories include first-place gallops at the Blue Grass and the Tampa Bay Stakes. Meanwhile, Angel of Empire notched his first triple-digit Brisnet Speed rating (101) with a win in the Arkansas Derby.

Below, you’ll find the initial morning-line betting market, along with the updated prices at FanDuel Racing (as of publish), minus Forte odds.

On top of the $20 racing bonus, new FanDuel users will also receive a bet $5, get $150 promo. Just make your first $5 sports wager, and the sportsbook will credit your account with $150 in bonus bets.

Moreover, similar to the the horse racing bonus, this bonus only applies to future sports bets. The bonus bets will return only winnings but not the stake. For example, a $20 bonus bet at +200 odds will award your account $40 total, rather than net $60 — if it was a real-money bet.
