Key Takeaways

No surprise that Fierceness and Sierra Leone are among the top burners. They've been installed as consensus co-favorites since qualifying.

However, it may be a surprise just how far ahead of the field Fierceness sits. Along with Fierceness' notable edge in Kentucky Derby Beyer Speed Figures, he appears to be the fastest horse in the field. He's rightfully the favorite.

Further down the Kentucky Derby points board, Society Man, Mystik Dan, and Just a Touch have all broken the three-figure mark in Brisnet ratings. Past Kentucky Derby winner trends have indicated a bit of a dividing line there. A majority of recent winners have crossed that threshold. That makes these horses potentially intriguing longer shots.
