Kansas Sports Betting Ready By NFL Season?
According to Fox 4 in Kansas City, Hollywood Casino expects to initiate Kansas sports betting come September for the start of the 2022-23 NFL campaign. The casino would kick things off with Barstool Sportsbook, where bettors would have the opportunity to place wagers inside the Turn 2 Sports Bar and restaurant — located inside the casino.
Less than a month ago, reports stated that Kansas sports betting wasn’t anticipated until Jan. 1, 2023. Hence, an earlier debut — even if it’s initially only at retail shops — is a major step in the right direction.
As a result, the casino would also be in position to employ sports betting when NASCAR hits Kansas Speedway Sept. 9, per the aforementioned news network. The casino is located directly next to the race track.
“I think we have proven our relationship with Hollywood Casino and NASCAR, and our parent company, Penn National, that we have continued to develop and grow our sport here at the Kansas Speedway,” Rick Skinner, the vice president and general manager of Hollywood Casino Kansas Speedway, said. “This is our little corner of NASCAR nation and I think it’s one more thing that entices people to come here and get more exposure to a great sport.”
Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly inked legislation for Kansas to become the 35th state with legal sports betting on May 12. Unlike in Maryland and Ohio, the launch appears to be undergoing a much smoother process.
Moreover, the tax rate is set for a very fair-minded 10 percent, and betting on college sports is allowed, including all in-state teams.
