When will Justin Jefferson return and be back with the Vikings?
Update: Justin Jefferson will not play against the Denver Broncos Sunday night but he could make his return next Monday night against the Chicago Bears. Minnesota may still opt to have him return after their Week 13 bye week, however.
Fantasy football owners and Vikings fans are itching to know when will Justin Jefferson return and be back on the field in Minnesota. The good news is that Jefferson is expected to return this season. Exactly when is the question after the Vikings placed the star WR on IR back on October 11. Jefferson is eligible to return for the Vikings Week 10 game against the Saints on Sunday, November 12.
It is no slam dunk that Jefferson plays in that game, however, as Minnesota will surely want him to have time to ramp up physically at practice before re-inserting him into NFL game action.
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported on October 15 that the Vikings will re-evaluate Jefferson’s injury in early November. The fear of Jefferson potentially being shut down for the season is not a great one as the 24-year-old is said to be motivated to have another 1,000-plus yard receiving season.
“The belief is that Jefferson will be back ASAP, regardless of his contract or the team’s record,” Pelissero said.
Here is a look at what the Vikings schedule looks like around the time we expect Jefferson to be ready to return.
- Week 12 November 27: Bears vs. Vikings
- Week 14 December 14: Vikings vs. Raiders
Minnesota’s bye week is Week 13.

Vikings odds
The Vikings and Bears are currently the bottom-feeders in the NFC North. Minnesota’s schedule softens in November but it may be a too little, too late scenario by then considering the Vikings’ rocky start. The Vikings had +4000 odds to win the Super Bowl prior to the start of the season.
