Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow was carted off the field at practice after suffering a calf injury on Thursday afternoon. Shortly after this news broke, many sportsbooks pulled NFL MVP odds and the like off the board. For context, the 2021 NFL Comeback Player of the Year was the +600 favorite in that market at BetMGM Sportsbook before the announcement leaked. Let’s assess the Joe Burrow injury and how it impacts Bengals odds.

Investigating Joe Burrow injury
As previously noted, a variety of operators took down where the Bengals stood among NFL win totals, make or miss postseason futures, Burrow props, and their season-opening odds at the Browns. But Super Bowl odds, including Cincinnati’s price point, remained an available wager across the industry.
There’s plenty of speculation of how much time Burrow will miss. His forecast all depends on the type of calf strain that he sustained, though. According to medical experts, a Grade I strain would limit him for 7-10 days while a Grade II classification would normally indicate an absence of 4-6 weeks. If Burrow’s calf strain is of the Grade III severity, he could miss up to three months and/or require surgery. Then again, Cincinnati may wind up being cautious and hold him out of the preseason entirely regardless.
