Dallas has constructed its team in the image of its superstar Luka Doncic. They play at one of the slowest paces in the league and they lack defensively, coming in at 23rd there per Cleaning The Glass. Dealing away solid defender Dorian Finney-Smith further weakened them on that end, so that ranking might even overstate things. But the incredibly slow pace — and Philly is also bottom five there — could drag down everyone’s numbers.

There’s a major wild card here with the uncertainty around Joel Embiid. He sat out Wednesday but was reportedly a game-time decision. Embiid sitting would theoretically open up more of the offense for Harden, although he didn’t really take any extra shots on Wednesday, posting a 23-7-5 line on his normal 15 FGA.

His assists actually dropped and there may be some signal there. Tyrese Maxey started in Embiid’s place and had the ball in his hands a ton, logging seven assists and taking 17 shots.

One area that could boost Harden’s scoring: free throws. He’s still getting to the line at an elite level, per Cleaning The Glass, and Dallas ranks dead last in opposing free throw rate. This has been an issue with Jason Kidd’s overly aggressive defenses at past stops as well.

Dallas also stinks on the boards, with ESPN’s numbers having them dead last in rebounding rate. Harden went a bit over his season rebounding numbers on Wednesday, so that could be a stat to look for the over on.
