PGA Tour golf continues with Memorial Park next on tap to host the 2025 Texas Children’s Houston Open in Houston this Thursday. Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy headline among Texas Children’s Houston Open bets this week. John Haslbauer provides his favorite PGA Tour picks from the available golf odds. Below, you’ll find each player’s best odds at legal betting sites.

PGA Tour action is back, teeing off this Thursday at Memorial Park for the 2025 Texas Children’s Houston Open. With just two weeks separating us from the Masters, this challenging course will be the perfect tune-up spot for some of the game’s best who are prepping for Augusta.

Since Memorial Park took over as the host of this event in 2020, the formula for success has been pretty consistent. Consistent drivers with plus distance, elite long-iron players, and reliable scramblers in difficult scoring conditions have separated themselves here.

HOW I BUILT MY texas children’s houston open BETTING CARD

Everyone is thinking the same thing this week. Take the two-headed giant of McIlroy and Scheffler head on, or conservatively bet in the “winner without” market. There are some acceptable values still in the latter, but hitting an outright winner that comes with an asterisk is not as much fun.

We also have some reason to believe the Big Two will look human this week. Scheffler has still not won since returning from his hand injury, and McIlroy has been known to use this week as a tune-up spot to practice shots he’ll need to call on at Augusta National. So, with this in mind, we are peppering the middle of the betting board in the hopes that the two best players in the world will not bring their A-games this week.

With all of that in mind, it’s back to business as usual for my weekly stake at the Texas Children’s Houston Open:

  • Outrights — 3.5U in to pay 25U each
  • FRL — 0.5U in to pay out 10U+ each
  • Full tournament matchups — 1U in to pay out 2U
  • Props — 1.5U in to pay out 3U+ each

Tony Finau

My bet: +3500
Best available odds:

I fondly remember Tony Finau at this event, looking dominant in his fall 2022 victory. Granted, that was up against a considerably weaker field, but Finau returned the following season to prove he could play well here anytime. He finished one stroke shy of Stephan Jaeger at this event last year.

Finau has been a forgotten man on the TOUR this year. He’s continued to play well and improve his putting, but those improvements have yet to manifest in higher finishes. Still, with two top-15s over his last four starts, this is a great spot for Finau to bounce back on a course that has already proven to suit his game well.

Si Woo Kim

My bet: +4500
Best available odds:

One of the most underrated players on TOUR, Kim is one of the few challengers in this field who will not shy away from the pressure of having to chase down McIlroy or Scheffler down the stretch. He’s finished top 40 in his last five starts, a credit to his consistency from tee to green. This week, he ranks No. 9 in that category and No. 5 overall in my model. A T17 finisher at this event last year, Kim can be distinguished as one of the most reliable scramblers in the field.

Min Woo Lee

My bet: +4500
Best available odds:

My featured spotlight player of the week, we always play with fire regarding Min Woo Lee. He has all the raw tools to be a star on the PGA Tour and needs one week to come together over four rounds. TPC Sawgrass is an unforgiving venue and, frankly, not the best course fit for a player like Lee, so I’m not as concerned about the volatility he showed in his T20 finish.

Despite that volatility, Lee remains on a stretch of five top-20s over his last seven starts. Coming to Memorial Park, he should be able to flex his distance and short-game advantage as he sets out to make his Texas Children’s Open debut.

Jason Day

My bet: +4500
Best available odds:

Aussies have an excellent track record in the wind, so I always think of Jason Day when we get to the Texas swing. Though not the same challenge, it was just up the road at TPC Craig Ranch, where Day picked up his last TOUR win. It was disappointing to see Day as a late scratch at THE PLAYERS due to illness, as his game was heating up leading in. Ludvig Aberg taught us at the Genesis Invitational to respect the post-illness golfer. I don’t expect Day’s health to be a concern a few weeks later.

Assuming he’s back in full health, this is a nice course fit for Day, who can lean on his strengths of driving distance and scrambling. He has two top-15s at Memorial Park and finished T7 last we saw him at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Max Greyserman

My bet: +7500
Best available odds:

Greyserman emerged at the end of last season as a promising “late” bloomer on the PGA TOUR. In his age-29 season, he delivered six top-10 finishes, a credit to his elite driving distance, extended iron play, and short game. Each of those characteristics draws me to him on this ideal course setup, which happens to be the site of his first career top-10 finish on the PGA Tour. With the three top-25 finishes over his last four starts, Greyserman is rounding out into form at the perfect time leading into this event.

Harris English

My bet: +9000
Best available odds:

At this point, Harris English may be my most-bet player on TOUR in 2025. For whatever reason, sportsbooks have not adjusted to treat English with the respect a veteran with three wins over the last four years should command.

English fits precisely the profile I’m looking for this week. He has plus driving distance is a consistent ball striker and separates with his scrambling on Bermuda greens. He’s had his fair share of success across the Texas swing, with a T4 finish at this event two appearances ago.

Jake Knapp

My bet: +10000
Best available odds:

These numbers can appear when the two-headed monster of Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy converge to soak up the tournament’s win equity. But there is no reason a PGA Tour winner like Jake Knapp in his current form should be available this far down the board. Knapp nearly won the Cognizant Classic earlier this season, posing a similar challenge for skilled drivers, long iron play, and scrambling from tight Bermuda lies. He’ll come to Houston with four top-25s over his last five starts.

Joel Dahmen

My bet: +15000
Best available odds:

My favorite value on the board this week is that Dahmen has also elevated his game on long and windy courses, despite his lack of distance. He’s emerged as one of the most consistent ball strikers in the field over the last 36 rounds, ranking top-10 in both SG: Ball Striking and SG: Tee-To-Green. He has a pair of top-10 finishes over his last six events and will find himself in the mix this week if he can manage any positive gains on the greens.

Aaron Rai

My bet: +5000
Best available odds:

Many sportsbooks have set Aaron Rai as the favorite outside of Scheffler or McIlroy in this event. I’m not ready to go that far, but if that is the case, we’re getting a hefty number here for one of the most in-form players in the field. He fell one stroke shy of the first-round lead at THE PLAYERS two weeks ago.

Kurt Kitayama

My bet: +7000
Best available odds:

As a stat model, darling, it seems inevitable that Kitayama will piece everything together soon. I’m buying low on him in the FRL market and will continue to monitor his return to form in the upcoming weeks.

Jake Knapp

My bet: +7000
Best available odds:

Famously tearing PGA National apart in the opening round of the Cognizant Classic with a 59, we should have no doubts as to whether Knapp can jump out to a hot start. There won’t be any 59s at Memorial Park, but his distance and scrambling prowess on Bermuda greens should still present ample scoring opportunities.

Harris English

My bet: +8000
Best available odds:

Coming into the Texas Children’s Houston Open in well-rounded form, English can score at Memorial Park in many ways, whether leaning on his ball striking or short game. If the putter stays hot, he’ll be a threat to go low on Thursday.

Beau Hossler

My bet: +10000
Best available odds:

Something about Beau Hossler in Texas makes me feel like I have to find exposure. I would be surprised if he out-dueled Scheffler or McIlroy to win this week, but there’s no question he has the short game to score at this venue.

Texas Children’s houston open BETS: PROPS (2.5 UNITS)

Full Tournament Matchup: Tony Finau > J.J. Spaun

My bet: +100

Betting against J.J. Spaun at THE PLAYERS admittedly may have been an error in judgment. And I guess I still haven’t learned my lesson because I don’t see the appeal of taking Spaun over Finau at a problematic track that has proven favorable to bombers. Spaun has won in Texas, but Finau gets the edge at Memorial Park, where he has won and finished T2 over his last three appearances. It would not surprise me if both finished in the top 20, but this bet is a testament to how high I am on Finau this week.

Top-20 Finish: Harris English

My bet: +300
Best available odds:

I’m drawn to English as a well-rounded veteran who enters this week in great all-around form and with a proven track record on comp courses. He’s stayed hot ever since winning the Farmers Insurance Open, and this does not seem to be the type of venue that will halt that momentum.

Top-20 Finish: Joel Dahmen

My bet: +400
Best available odds:

Dahmen has been repeatedly hitting fairways and greens in regulation over the last several months. A placement bet on him depends on whether he can hole enough putts. He’s finished in the top 10 twice over his last six starts, which is more than any other player priced at these odds in this market can say.

ONE AND DONE

My pick: Si Woo Kim

I don’t expect Scheffler or McIlroy to command much ownership this week, which is rare in a week where there are two prohibitive favorites. But conventional wisdom would suggest they will be saved for higher purse events. That leaves a logjam of ownership for mid-tier players like Tony Finau, Davis Thompson, and Aaron Rai. I’m not sure if Si Woo Kim’s recent form has been shaky enough to scare OAD players away, but I like him as a high-upside choice with a good history at this event and ownership that should remain relatively in check.

I would also consider playing Tony Finau, Min Woo Lee, or Davis Thompson in OAD, if not Si Woo Kim.
