Designed by Ernie Els in 2010, the ultra-exclusive Albany resort and championship course has hosted the Hero World Challenge since 2015. Tiger Woods has been the tournament host with his TGR Live business that is part of the Tiger Woods Foundation managing three PGA TOUR events including the Hero World Challenge.

Albany combines the best of links and desert features with low fairways set between windswept dunes and sandy waste areas. There are numerous scenic and strategically challenging water features including a lake wrapped around the left side of the signature hole at No. 17 – a Par-3 hit 180 yards over water to a small green.

The course has below average-sized greens averaging near 4,500 square feet. Scoring is there for the taking with five Par-5s, but also five Par-3s. The three toughest scoring holes are Par-4s at No. 18 and 16 and the Par-3 at No. 12.

Key Stats

Since 2014, every winner at this course had played in a competitive pro golf event during the previous three weeks. However, a majority of this year’s players have been off for at least a month. So as you analyze Strokes Gained stats and and other golf betting stats and profiles, recognize stats and form may not be as true an indicator and that players who have added length and stronger around the green games are better bets at Albany.

The top Par-5 efficiency leaders with at least eight rounds at Albany include:

  • Xander Schauffele
  • Bryson DeChambeau
