The PGA Tour remains stationed in the Sunshine State from one signature event to another. The Florida swing continues on to TPC Sawgrass. It’s one of the year’s biggest events in golf, the 2025 Players Championship. The Players features one of the deepest fields of the season, with so much volatility year-to-year. Therefore, it can be an ideal week for searching for diamonds in the rough for your PGA Tour betting and golf DFS picks.

FINDING VALUE IN GOLF DFS PICKS: THE PLAYERS

To identify “value” any given week on the PGA Tour, I find it’s best to first understand the consensus key stat profile and then take a stance on the elements of the tournament that may go overlooked. At The Players, recent form, SG: APP, and history in difficult, high-stakes conditions are consensus key areas factored into each player’s price.

From a sleeper perspective, I will take a stance on the importance of Comp Course History and SG: Ball Striking on comparable positional courses. They present opportunities to buy low on players who may not fit consensus trends. Course History has not been predictive at TPC Sawgrass. I’m leaning on that stance to differentiate my player pool and find value for this week’s tournament.

Below, find my favorite golf DFS picks and longshots for the 2025 Players Championship. Stats were pulled across the last 36 rounds unless otherwise noted.

Sepp Straka: +2800

I really, really like Sepp Straka’s chances this week. Despite his position this far down the betting board, I’m giving him some serious consideration as my One And Done pick. When looking for value plays in marquee events like The Players, I have to ask myself a question. “Would it make sense if this guy won an event of this magnitude?” The more I’ve dug into Straka’s resume, the more confident I feel.

Straka is on a short list of players with three PGA Tour wins over the last three years. His most recent came at the Stadium Course, which was designed in the image of TPC Sawgrass by Pete Dye. Straka grew up in Georgia and played his best golf on Bermuda courses. He also picked up a win at the 2022 Honda Classic and fell in a playoff to Will Zalatoris at the 2022 FedEx St. Jude Championship. That has translated to some initial success at The Players as well. He’s posted two top-16 finishes over four starts.

In the deepest field on the PGA Tour schedule, Straka ranks No. 8 in my model. He’s in the top 10 ranks in the key categories of recent form (SG: TOT L36 and L16), SG: APP, par-5 scoring, and birdie or better percentage. With five top-15 finishes over his last six starts, there is much to like about the Austrian’s chances.

Daniel Berger: +3500

A local Floridian who has always raised his baseline on short, positional Bermuda courses that reward precise ball striking, Berger is catching fire at the perfect time leading up to the 2025 Players Championship. After a sustained absence recovering from injury, it’s safe to say Daniel Berger’s vintage form has returned. He reminds us he is a four-time tour champion and Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup winner.

Over his last four starts, Berger has flourished with T2, 12th, T25, and T15 finishes. Most impressively, he’s sustained that form throughout his bag. He gained across the four major strokes categories in each of those last four starts. He’s also sustained great recent results at The Players, finishing T13 and T9 over his previous two appearances. A fairway finder who can separate with his iron play and streaky Bermuda putting, it makes sense to see Berger’s already found success at TPC Sawgrass. He ranks No. 1 in comp course history and SG: TOT on Pete Dye courses and looks ready to notch another high finish.

Akshay Bhatia: +10000

Bhatia is one of the PGA Tour’s brightest rising stars, and I believe it’s only a matter of time before he solidifies himself as one of the top American golfers of his generation. He seems to be one signature win away from playing himself onto the US Ryder Cup team. With playoff wins at the Barracuda Championship and Valero Texas Open over the last two years, Bhatia has proven he can rise in high-pressure moments. That is a key skill for conquering TPC Sawgrass.

Bhatia missed his first cut since July 2024 at the API last week, snapping a streak of 11 consecutive made. Given the extreme weather conditions he played in at his Bay Hill debut, I will give it a pass. And I believe this sets up a tremendous buy-low situation at his price. The sustained streak of made cuts is a credit to his improvements on the green. He’s flipped his greatest weakness last season into arguably his greatest strength. He ranks No. 10 in SG: Putting in the previous 36 rounds and No. 14 in recent form (SG: TOT L16).

Bhatia, a creative shot-shaper who elevates his ball-striking advantage in windy conditions, is a perfect fit for TPC Sawgrass. This week, he’ll be a fixture on my betting card and fantasy lineups.

Nick Taylor: +7500

Like Bhatia, Nick Taylor also foreshadowed that he was ready to handle the pressure of golf’s biggest stages. He’s prevailed in a playoff in each of his last three tour wins.

Intangibles aside, it’s encouraging to see the pattern of how consistently well Taylor has played on comp positional courses like Waialae CC and TPC Scottsdale. He ranks No. 16 in this field in comp course history, a credit to his ability to separate with his iron play and putting on courses that remove any distinct advantage from longer hitters.

Taylor has kept his foot on the gas since taking down the Sony Open in January, proving he belongs on the biggest stages with an impressive five career PGA Tour wins. He’s followed up the Sony Open win with finishes of T12 at the American Express and T9 at the Genesis Invitational. He ranks No. 4 in SG: APP and No. 16 in SG: T2G over that span.

And although he is not known as a dominant driver, he’s gotten the most out of that club this season. He gained in driving accuracy at the start of 2025 and ranks in the top 30 in the field in driving accuracy.

Not afraid of the most significant moments, Taylor will be on my betting card this week in search of the biggest win of his career to date.

Best of luck if you bet or play these golf DFS picks for the 2025 Players Championship!
