The FedEx Cup playoffs continue on this Thursday, with a field of the top 50 remaining from the 2024 FedEx Cup standings set to tee off at the BMW Championship at Castle Pines Golf Club. Below, we will look at four possible golf DFS picks among sleepers on DFS apps and the best golf betting sites

Could any potential longshots emerge from BMW Championship picks? A field of just 50 players is not exactly conducive to finding exploitable value in the betting market; however, pricing is all relative when it comes to Fantasy golf contests. So, while this may not be the tournament to take a big swing on longshot winners, it’s still a crucial week to identify salary-saving diamonds in the rough. With a brand new course in store at Castle Pines Golf Club, there’s plenty of opportunity for trending approach players to catch fire in Colorado.

BMW Championship Course Specs

To identify “value” any given week on the PGA TOUR, I find it’s best to first understand the consensus key stat profile. Then, take a stance on the elements of the tournament that may go overlooked. At the BMW Championship, Recent Form, Driving Distance, and SG: Approach are consensus key areas factored into each player’s price. To exploit value, I’m looking to take a stance on the importance of Total Driving and Comp Course History on similar venues at altitude to differentiate my player pool.

Golf DFS Sleepers In $7000+ Range

Here are my favorite golf DFS picks among lower-priced players for the 2024 BMW Championship. Stats are pulled from the last 36 rounds unless otherwise noted.

Play: Shane Lowry $8100

  • To Win: Shane Lowry +200000 on DraftKings
  • Top 5: Shane Lowry +50000 on FanDuel
  • Top 10: Shane Lowry +1600 on FanDuel
  • Top 20: Shane Lowry -1400 on FanDuel

I’m not digging very deep for outright sleepers this week, however Shane Lowry is the farthest down I’m comfortable going with his outright price drifting as far as 70-1 odds. The 2024 Zurich Classic winner is in the midst of his best career statistical season from a ball-striking standpoint and is exactly the type of “longshot” who would not surprise anyone if he found himself in contention come this Sunday.

The Irishman has piled up six top-10 finishes on the PGA TOUR season, which has quietly raised him up to No. 11 in the FedEx Cup standings entering BMW Championship week. Top-10 finishes at both The Open and the PGA Championship will do that for you, but I’m especially encouraged by his T6 finish at Valhalla, as that success on a driver-heavy Nicklaus design should translate well at Castle Pines.

Lowry enters this week ranking top-10 in terms of SG: APP, and Comp Course History, the two highest categories I have ranked in my model this week. That makes him a standout value for me for fantasy and betting purposes as he looks for his third top-10 finish over his last five starts.

Play: Taylor Pendrith $7300

  • To Win: Taylor Pendrith +75000 on FanDuel
  • Top 5: Taylor Pendrith +50000 on FanDuel
  • Top 10: Taylor Pendrith -140 on FanDuel
  • Top 20: Taylor Pendrith -350 on FanDuel

A staple value play for me in my Fantasy lineups and placement betting card last week, a T22 at the FedEx St Jude Championship won’t keep me from running it back with Taylor Pendrith again at Castle Pines. I was bullish on Pendrith last week on the merit of his recent form alone in spite of the poor course fit at TPC Southwind, so I believe better results lie ahead for the Presidents Cup hopeful. With a win already this season and 10 top-25 finishes over his last 13 starts, I believe Pendrith’s already done more than enough to earn a spot on the International Team for the second time.

At elevation, Castle Pines won’t play nearly as long as the 8,100+ yard scorecard suggests, however the landing areas are generous enough for long hitters to play aggressively here at times, so I see an edge to be had for longer hitters like Pendrith. He’s proven to have a flair for Mountain golf already with three career top-15 finishes at Tahoe Mountain Club over four prior Barracuda Championship appearances. He’s also proven capable of stepping up to the plate in the FedEx Cup Playoffs already, placing T8 in his only prior BMW Championship appearance in 2022.

Golf DFS Sleepers In $6000 Range

Play: Max Greyserman $6300

  • To Win: Max Greyserman +500000 on DraftKings
  • Top 5: Max Greyserman +50000 on FanDuel
  • Top 10: Max Greyserman +40000 on FanDuel
  • Top 20: Max Greyserman +15000 on FanDuel

Likely the chalk play of the week from a fantasy perspective based on his price relative to outright odds, Max Greyserman will hardly be a sleeper in terms of ownership. In a field of 50, however, leverage and salary savings can be hard to come by, so I don’t mind tailing the industry consensus on one of the hottest hands in golf right now.

Though still looking for his first career PGA TOUR win in his rookie season, he’s gotten used to contending on Sunday quickly with runner-up finishes at the 3M Open and Wyndham Championship leading up to the FedEx Cup Playoffs. He got off to a rough start in his FedEx St Jude Championship debut, firing the worst round of the day on Thursday, but rebounded nicely with a final round 63, tied for the best of the day. Momentum is a dangerous thing come playoff time, and he seems to have found it now with eight consecutive top-35 finishes leading up to the BMW Championship. Profiling as a bomber with spike approach and putting upside, Greyserman’s game sets up nicely for Castle Pines’ He’s also displayed an affinity for Colorado Mountain golf with a runner-up finish on the Korn Ferry Tour last year at TPC Colorado.

Play: Austin Eckroat $6300

  • To Win: Austin Eckroat +500000 on DraftKings
  • Top 5: Austin Eckroat +50000 on FanDuel
  • Top 10: Austin Eckroat +40000 on FanDuel
  • Top 20: Austin Eckroat +30000 on FanDuel

A less obvious sleeper choice for the 2024 BMW Championship, Austin Eckroat has quietly developed a reputation as a Jack Nicklaus course specialist. In addition to picking up his first career PGA TOUR victory at PGA National earlier this season, Eckroat has also impressed with a T18 at Valhalla and T39 at the Memorial Tournament this season.

A reliable ball-striker, Eckroat has gotten things going with his putter recently too, leading to finishes of T6 and T18 over his last two starts. Ranking No. 8 in the field in Driving Accuracy, Eckroat is positioned well for another top-20 push if he can continue to navigate yet another Jack Nicklaus design from the fairways.

GOLF DFS PLAYER POOL

With all the course-fit profiles in mind, I’m leaning early toward the below player pool for golf DFS picks this week. Naturally, I’m also looking their way in the 2024 BMW Championship odds. I’ve broken the list down by projected pricing/odds tier for DraftKings.
