The PGA Tour heads international this week, with more golf sleepers to uncover in Puerto Vallarta for the 2025 Mexico Open at Vidanta. As a stark contrast to last week’s signature event at Torrey Pines, virtually no household names have been found at Vidanta Vallarta this week. Even still, this event has plenty of appealing longshot betting options. The latest PrizePicks bonus and Underdog promo codes offer deposit matches for those interested in playing these golf DFS picks.

Over its first three years on the PGA Tour schedule, this event has proven to cater to players who can separate with their distance and long iron approach play, regardless of recent form on some of the more traditional, shorter venues on the tour. That sets the stage for several value plays and longshots who may enter this week at a discount.

Let’s get to our 2025 Mexico Open at Vidanta longshots and sleepers for golf DFS picks and betting cards. Click on the odds anywhere below to bet now using the best available prices in your state.

FINDING VALUE IN GOLF DFS PICKS: Mexico Open at Vidanta

To identify “value” any given week on the PGA Tour, I find it’s best first to understand the consensus key stat profile, then take a stance on the elements of the tournament that may go overlooked. At the Mexico Open at Vidanta, Course History, Recent Form, Driving Distance, and SG: APP are the key areas of each player’s price.

From a sleeper perspective, I will emphasize the importance of long-iron proximity (prox: 200+), paspalum putting, and performance on long, yet not difficult, comp courses as key areas to differentiate my player pool and find value for this week’s tournament.

Below, find my favorite golf DFS picks and longshots for the 2025 Mexico Open at Vidanta. Stats are from the last 36 rounds unless otherwise noted. Each listing includes that player’s best price in Mexico Open odds.

Michael Thorbjornsen Michael Thorbjornsen +500000 on DraftKings

Could it be back-to-back weeks of “I’m here” moments from sub-25-year-old college standouts? If Aberg is officially “here” now, then Thorbjornsen represents a peek at what’s to come from the next class of rising PGA Tour stars. A highly touted prospect out of Stanford, Thorbjornsen acclimated to tour competition quickly with three top-10 finishes in his first 10 starts since turning pro last summer.

He’s been a bit slow out the gates to start 2025, but that hasn’t been a fault of his ball-striking. Thorbjornsen is one of the longest hitters in the field this week, and one of only four players to rank top-20 in terms of both driving distance and prox: 200+. He’ll bring some good memories with him across the border this week, as his last win in competitive golf competition came at the 2024 Cabo Collegiate Invitational.

Aldrich Potgieter Aldrich Potgieter +160 on BetMGM

Remembering the 2024 Mexico Open at Vidanta, we arrived at a two-man race of Jake Knapp and Sami Valimaki. That hints at Aldrich Potgieter as the player best able to follow suit and find himself in contention in 2025. Potgieter is a burgeoning star hailing from South Africa at just 20 years old but seems to be settling into his own quickly. He has three top-15 finishes over his last six starts and was last seen contending in the final pairing at the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines. Potgieter’s superpower is his length off the tee. He ranks No. 1 in driving distance in this field. The rest of his game needs some polishing, but he’ll be starting on second base in Vidanta Vallarta’s fairways.

Jake Knapp foreshadowed his course fit for Vidanta Vallarta by contending at Torrey Pines in the weeks prior. Potgieter seems to stand next in line to follow suit and bomb this course into submission.

Matti Schmid Matthias Schmid +500000 on DraftKings

All the signs point toward Matt Schmid being a perfect fit to attack Vidanta Vallarta. And yet, the results still don’t show it. If we subscribe to the notion that Schmid is simply “due” to figure it out at Vidanta Vallarta, then this may just be the best value on the odds board this week. I certainly do side with the young German being due for better results here. Vidanta Vallarta isn’t a course with nuance that requires time to figure out. At every other coastal, long, windy comp course, Schmid has thrived. He ranks top-10 in comp course history with top-15 finishes at Corales, Grand Reserve, and Port Royal since 2023.

Schmid came very close to picking up his first career PGA Tour win this fall with multiple top-five showings. He has the game and distance to pull away at Vidanta Vallarta, even if the past results haven’t quite shown that yet.

Hayden Springer Hayden Springer +500000 on DraftKings

The quintessential example of the type of value player I’m searching for this week, Springer is a long birdie-maker who thrives on long coastal resort courses. He comes at a discount this week for lack of better results in recent events played at less driver-heavy courses. Over his last 15 starts, Springer has four top-15 finishes, each on driver-heavy courses that allow the longest hitters in the field to separate. The most recent example of this came at the Farmers Insurance Open, where he finished sixth. I love the cross-over between Torrey Pines and Vidanta Vallarta after looking at the resumes of past winners Jake Knapp, Tony Finau, and Jon Rahm.

Ranking top 25 in driving distance, prox: 200+, SG: TOT (long yet not difficult courses), and comp course history, Springer will be a fixture on my outright and placement betting card this week.

Best of luck if you bet or play any of these golf DFS picks for the Mexico Open at Vidanta!
