The greatest week in golf is upon us as the PGA TOUR makes one final stop in Greensboro, North Carolina at Sedgefield Country Club for the 2024 Wyndham Championship before the FedEx Cup playoffs are underway. Let’s attempt to navigate some potential golf DFS sleeper picks.

The Wyndham Championship is to me, the most underrated tournament on the PGA TOUR schedule. There are significant implications at stake for fringe players to play their way into the top 70 of the FedEx Cup standings, and they’ll have one final crack to do so in Greensboro. History has shown the Wyndham Championship to be kind to longshots, as the premium qualities of driving accuracy, short iron approach play, and Bermuda putting can easily be found at both the top and bottom of the odds board.

Below, we’ll look at potential Wyndham Championship picks and dig in deep as we look for PGA TOUR sleepers in this week’s golf odds.

To identify “value” any given week on the PGA TOUR, I find it’s best first to understand the consensus key stat profile. Then, take a stance on the elements of the tournament that may go overlooked. At the Wyndham Championship, Recent Form, Course History, and Birdies or Better Gained are consensus key areas factored into each player’s price. To exploit value, I’m looking to take a stance on the importance of approach proximity from 100-175 yards and long-term putting skill, particularly on Bermuda greens, to differentiate my player pool.

Below, find my favorite value PGA golf Fantasy picks and longshots for the 2024 Wyndham Championship. Stats are pulled from the last 36 rounds unless otherwise noted.

4 Potential Golf DFS SLeepers To Consider

Andrew Novak

  • To Win: Andrew Novak +100000 on FanDuel
  • Top 5: Andrew Novak +50000 on FanDuel
  • Top 10: Andrew Novak +40000 on FanDuel
  • Top 20: Andrew Novak +30000 on FanDuel

It’s been a fantastic season for the 29-year-old, with nine top-25 finishes over 19 starts, ranking above-average across all four major Strokes Gained Categories for the year. While all of that prevailing success has typically allowed a player of Novak’s profile to coast into the FedEx Cup Playoffs, he still has some work to do. With the playoffs cutting down from top-125 to top-70 in the FedEx Cup Standings, Novak currently sits at No. 84 and will be motivated for a top-10 finish this week to catapult himself to Memphis.

Sedgefield Country Club is a good fit for Novak, as the St. Simons, Georgia resident has continued to put his best foot forward on Bermuda courses in this region of the country. Four of Novak’s top-25 finishes this season have come on Bermuda courses, including a T9 at The Cognizant Classic at PGA National. One of the sneakiest well-rounded players in this field, Novak ranks top-25 in Recent Form, Greens In Regulation Percentage, Prox: 100-175, and Birdies or Better Gained.

Mackenzie Hughes

  • To Win: Mackenzie Hughes +100000 on FanDuel
  • Top 5: Mackenzie Hughes +50000 on FanDuel
  • Top 10: Mackenzie Hughes +40000 on FanDuel
  • Top 20: Mackenzie Hughes +725

Mackenzie Hughes may not fit your prototypical “approach specialist” profile to attack Sedgefield Country Club, but I’m drawn to his prowess on comparable short Bermuda tracks and his putting skill on tricky Donald Ross greens. Established as one of the best putters on TOUR, Hughes would fit in well with the trend of other putting specialists like JT Poston, Kevin Kisner, and Denny McCarthy, who have leaned on the flatstick to separate at the Wyndham Championship. That’s been an effective game for Hughes of late, as he enters coming off of back-to-back top-20 finishes at The Open and the 3M Open.

Sea Island Resort, host of the RSM Classic is one of the best comp courses to Sedgefield Country Club, each short layouts featuring Bermuda grass throughout and emphasizing birdie-making in easy scoring conditions. Hughes has been at his best at the RSM Classic, picking up his first career win there to go along with two other runner-up finishes. While those results haven’t quite translated to carryover success at the Wyndham Championship just yet, I expect Hughes to come in motivated this week with a spot on the Presidents Cup team on the line.

Mac Meissner

  • To Win: Mackenzie Hughes +100000 on FanDuel
  • Top 5: Mac Meissner +23000
  • Top 10: Mac Meissner +240 on FanDuel
  • Top 20: Mac Meissner -200 on FanDuel

The 2024 PGA TOUR rookie has quickly made a name for himself with six top-20 finishes this year. All throughout, Meissner has leaned on his repeatable skillsets of finding fairways and greens in regulation to generate scoring opportunities on easier course setups. Meissner has three top-10 finishes already this year, and in each instance, he ranked top-20 in the field in both Driving Accuracy and SG: APP. That’s the formula I’m looking for in Fantasy Sleepers at the Wyndham Championship, as Meissner is not dependent on a hot putter for high finishes.

With top-20 finishes at the John Deere Classic, Charles Schwab Challenge, and Myrtle Beach Classic, Meissner rated out No. 1 in terms of Comp Course History and No. 4 in my overall model this week. He will be a staple play for me in Fantasy formats and placement betting markets.

Ben Kohles

  • To Win: Ben Kohles +100000 on FanDuel
  • Top 5: Ben Kohles +50000 on DraftKings
  • Top 10: Ben Kohles +40000 on FanDuel
  • Top 20: Ben Kohles +40000 on FanDuel

Ben Kohles likely would not be available this far down the odds board this week had he successfully closed out the final hole of the CJ Cup Byron Nelson at TPC Craig Ranch. Even still, the 2023 Korn Ferry standout is still in a position to make a final push for the FedEx Cup playoffs with a top-10 finish this week. Sedgefield Country Club is an ideal fit for Kohles’ game, too, with its emphasis on driving accuracy, short irons, and Bermuda putting. Kohles is one of just five players in the field this week to rank in the top 25 in all three categories.

A runner-up finish at the aforementioned CJ Cup Byron Nelson was a turning point for Kohles, as he has piled up four top-30 finishes and just one missed cut over his nine starts since. Kohles lives out of the fairway, ranking No. 1 in Driving Accuracy, which should give him a leg up at a positional venue like Sedgefield Country Club. I can’t quite get there on an outright bet, but I love Kohles’ fit this week as a Fantasy salary-saver or top-40 placement bet consideration.

GOLF DFS PLAYER POOL

With all the course-fit profiles in mind, I’m leaning early toward the below player pool for golf DFS picks this week. Naturally, I’m also looking their way in the 2024 Wyndham Championship odds. I’ve broken the list down by projected pricing/odds tier for DraftKings.
