4 Golf DFS Sleeper Picks: 2024 Travelers Championship Cheat Sheet For Underdog Fantasy
The PGA TOUR’s best (minus one) have congregated together for yet another Signature Event, which means a smaller field to choose from for golf DFS picks. This week’s festivities bring us to the 2024 Travelers Championship in Cromwell, Connecticut. It’ll be a tough act to follow after Bryson DeChambeau’s theatrical victory at Pinehurst No. 2, but TPC River Highlands is up to the task with a longstanding history of climactic finishes in front of one of the most electric crowds the PGA TOUR has to offer.
It’s the fans who make this event so special. Serving as the Northeast’s only regular PGA TOUR stop each year, these fans are always starved of the PGA TOUR’s best. Because of that, players who feed into the crowd atmosphere have relished the spotlight at TPC River Highlands. The course features Pete Dye’s quirky bunkering but plays a bit less positional in modern days than Dye intended. Overall, we should expect to see a true birdie-makers paradise rewarding hot iron play and a streaky putter.
Ahead, we’ll look to dig for some diamonds in the rough in this article ahead of the 2024 Travelers Championship.

To identify “value” any given week on the PGA TOUR, I find it’s best first to understand the consensus key stat profile. Then, take a stance on the elements of the tournament that may go overlooked. At the Travelers Championship, Recent Form, SG: APP, and Course History are consensus key areas factored into each player’s price.
From a golf DFS picks perspective, I will take a stance primarily on the importance of Birdies or Better Gained and Comp Course History to diversify my player pool. We’ve been in the teeth of some very difficult scoring venues over the last two months, so it may be fruitful to look further back to the start of this year to reference players who are better suited for easier scoring venues as a buy-low opportunity coming out of the Memorial and U.S. Open.
Below, find my favorite value PGA golf Fantasy picks and longshots for the 2024 Travelers Championship. Stats pulled across Last 36 Rounds unless otherwise noted.

Shane Lowry
Everyone’s talking about the other Irishman in golf (or lack thereof this week), but the other side of the triumphant Zurich Classic duo has continued to press forward with great form in 2024. Lowry has finished top 20 in each of his last two starts in Majors, and while TPC River Highlands offers far less resistance than Valhalla or Pinehurst, it’s still encouraging to see Lowry’s game firing on all cylinders.
Not the longest hitter on TOUR, his game is better suited to courses like TPC River Highlands, which levels the gap between bombers and plodders and allows the best iron players to separate. That’s been the strength of Lowry’s game in 2024, ranking top-5 in SG: APP and top-10 in approach from 125-175 yards, where a majority of second shots funnel at The Travelers. Already with four top-10 finishes this season, Lowry is a standout value in fantasy formats, considering the upside he has shown and his overall fit for the course.

Si Woo Kim
When it comes to Pete Dye courses, Si Woo Kim’s name should always come to mind, especially when his name can be found discounted this far down the board. The South Korean has picked up two career PGA TOUR wins on Dye venues between THE PLAYERS and The AmEx. That fit for Pete Dye venues has continued into the 2024 season, as he’s finished top-25 in each of his first three starts at Dye tracks (TPC Sawgrass, Stadium Course at PGA West, Harbour Town).
It’s Kim’s elite control off the tee, reliable iron play, and deft touch around the greens that make him such a mainstay on these types of courses, as he is well-equipped to withstand the challenges. Pete Dye is known for designing his courses. around. While his putting leaves some to be desired, Kim has been one of the most consistent players from tee to green this season. He ranks top-15 in SG: OTT, SG: APP, and SG: ARG this week, good for No. 6 overall in my model. He’s had a mixed bag of results at The Travelers, but his resume still includes three top-25 finishes over seven career appearances, making him a viable placement bet this week.
Harris English
The 2021 Travelers Championship winner survived a marathon of playoff rounds against Kramer Hickok before he ultimately prevailed. While English’s game is more suited to wide-open courses that play into his strength of driving distance and forgive some driving inaccuracies, his greatest strength is his putting, which has kept him in contention more regularly this season regardless of course fit.
Time has passed TPC River Highlands, unfortunately, and as technology continues to advance, this course is left more and more defenseless, resorting to more of a putting contest in recent years. English has been one of the most consistent putters in this field, having gained on the greens in each of his last 12 starts. That has helped drive a resurgent 2024 season, which includes eight top-25 finishes. I’m not high enough on English to expect him in contention come Sunday, but his game carries a high floor for conservative fantasy lineup construction.
Matthieu Pavon
Is there a better dart-throw longshot option in 2024 than Matthieu Pavon? The Frenchman is peaking for Paris, with the Olympic games only a month away now. Like English, a booming putter has launched Pavon into contention at all of golf’s most iconic venues in 2024. In addition to his win at Torrey Pines, he’s also claimed top-12 finishes at Pinehurst, Augusta, TPC Sawgrass, and Pebble Beach. That’s a career resume to be proud of, and he’s done it in just six short months!
Of course, TPC River Highlands tests a different skillset than some of these other iconic venues, however top-6 finishes at The Sony Open and AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am show he can adapt his game to short, positional courses. The ball striking is volatile, but Pavon from the key range of 125-175 yards, Pavon has been elite, ranking No. 2 in this field. A combination of approach play from this distance and spike putting prowess make Pavon a dangerous sleeper candidate to continue riding the momentum from his T5 finish at the U.S. Open last week.
