There have certainly been more favorites than longshots who’ve gone on to win this event in recent years. But a simple formula of driving distance, short game, and proven results at Torrey Pines or other setups of comparable difficulty has proven predictive, even for longshots buried at the bottom of the odds board.

FINDING VALUE IN GOLF DFS PICKS: The fARMERS iNSURANCE oPEN
To identify “value” any given week on the PGA Tour, I find it’s best first to understand the consensus key stat profile, then take a stance on the elements of the tournament that may go overlooked. At the Farmers Insurance Open, course history, recent form, driving distance, and scrambling in difficult scoring conditions are the key areas of each player’s price.
From a sleeper perspective, I will emphasize the importance of long-iron proximity, Poa putting, and performance on long and difficult comp courses to Torrey Pines as key areas to differentiate my player pool and find value for this week’s tournament.
Below, find my favorite golf DFS picks and longshots for the 2025 Farmers Insurance Open. Stats are from the last 36 rounds unless otherwise noted. Each listing includes that player’s best price in Farmers Insurance Open odds.

Thomas Detry Thomas Detry +6500 on DraftKings
By OWGR, Detry is a top-60 player in the world. His rise up the ranks is all the more impressive, considering he’s built up to this point without a professional win to his name across the PGA Tour or DP World Tour. Even in a field that lacks the number of stars we’re used to seeing at Torrey Pines, Detry is a standout value to me for his course fit and overall form leading in.
With Torrey Pines’ South course stretching over 7,700 yards, the longest hitters, particularly those with great touch around the greens, will have an advantage. Detry is among five players to rank in the op 20 in driving distance, SG: P (Poa), and SG: TOT in difficult scoring conditions. With eight top-15 finishes over his last 20 starts and a T20 at last year’s Farmers Insurance Open, Detry makes for a great placement bet consideration this week.

Justin Rose Justin Rose +7000 on DraftKings
Justin Rose has found himself representing California as one of the faces of TGL’s top team, L.A. Golf Club. And although he may not have any direct ties to California, his repeated success at Torrey Pines is undoubtedly starting to make this feel like “home.”
Rose ranks in the top five in course history at Torrey Pines, with a win and four additional top-20 finishes over his last six Farmers Insurance Open appearances. Rose is a consistent ball-striker at his best, with above-average total driving and the ability to catch fire with his putter. Poa greens are a unique beast on the PGA Tour, so I tend to overvalue course history for those most comfortable with this agronomy. With four top-25 finishes in his last eight starts, Rose returns to Torrey Pines in solid form.
Harris English Harris English +8000 on DraftKings
Harris English was a bit of a swing and a miss for me last week at the American Express, finishing a modest T43. However, I’m happy to buy the dip with English a week later, as I still have high hopes for his ceiling this season.
With top-25 finishes at the Genesis Invitational, Arnold Palmer Invitational, The Players, the Masters, and the PGA Championship last season, English has proven his best at challenging scoring venues that emphasize all facets of your game. He’s often put that fit on display at Torrey Pines over the years, with four career top-15 finishes, including a third-place finish in 2021 when Torrey Pines hosted the US Open.
Ranking in the top 20 in scrambling, bogey avoidance, comp course history, SG: ARG, and SG: TOT in difficult scoring conditions, English rates are of great value in this week’s field.
Joseph Bramlett Joseph Bramlett +12000 on DraftKings
Bramlett is a longshot, yet he still has convinced me he can follow the blueprint that rewarded Luke List in 2022. Like List, Bramlett is a very talented ball-striker with elite driving distance who has battled some shortcomings on the greens throughout his career. Also, like List, those putting woes have gone away at Torrey Pines. He has gained strokes, putting in all but one appearance over six career Farmers Insurance Open starts. Amid that stretch, Bramlett has posted three top-25 finishes over the last four years.
Bramlett was stuck in neutral throughout the fall swing, closing the year on a streak of six consecutive made cuts but just one top-25 finish. On the bright side, Bramlett has consistently gained strokes from tee to green in each of his last 10 starts. So if he continues to conjure up his putting magic on these Poa greens at Torrey Pines, he’ll emerge as a sneaky value play in placement betting and fantasy formats.
Best of luck if you bet or play any of these golf DFS picks for the Farmers Insurance Open!
