4 Golf DFS Sleeper Picks: 2024 Genesis Scottish Player Rankings & $250 Bonus Offer
It’s a refreshing change of pace week on the PGA TOUR as we cross the pond to Scotland for this week’s golf DFS picks at the 2024 Genesis Scottish Open hosted by The Renaissance Club.
True to links fashion, an uncertain weather forecast of rain and wind looms ahead. While it will be important to monitor the weather throughout the week, Driving Distance, long iron approach play, crafty short game, and three-putt avoidance on large and slow greens are all key characteristics needed to score.
So many top-heavy names in the field creates a perfect opportunity to capitalize on drastic odds and pricing drops for mid to low-tier players. And with so much randomness in store from the conditions of links golf, it’s a great opportunity to search for high upside value.
Below, we’ll look at potential Genesis Scottish Open picks and dig in deep as we look for PGA TOUR sleepers in this week’s golf odds. Click on the odds to bet now.

To identify “value” any given week on the PGA TOUR, I find it’s best first to understand the consensus key stat profile. Then, take a stance on the elements of the tournament that may go overlooked. At the Genesis Scottish Open, Recent Form, Course History, and Scoring in difficult conditions are consensus key areas factored into each player’s price. To exploit value, I’m looking to take a stance on Comp Course History at similar links-style venues and Short Game around large and slow greens to simulate the unique style of play needed to score around The Renaissance Club.
Below, find my favorite value PGA golf Fantasy picks and longshots for the 2024 John Deere Classic. Stats pulled across Last 36 Rounds unless otherwise noted.

Wyndham Clark
The World No. 4 and soon-to-be representative of Team USA at the upcoming Paris Olympics is not someone I would have expected to pop up as a “value” consideration at the Genesis Scottish Open if you’d asked me a few months ago. However, a tumultuous stretch in the middle of his 2024 season has relegated Wyndham Clark to the middle of the odds board. Fresh off of a T7 showing in his latest start at The Travelers Championship, I’m willing to take a stance that Clark can rediscover the form that earned him a win and three other top-3 finishes earlier this year.
“Wyndham in the wind” is a narrative that has paid off handsomely for Clark, who picked up a win earlier this year at Pebble Beach and has amassed eight top-10 finishes on coastal courses over the last three years. At The Renaissance Club, Clark is in select company of players who have posted multiple top-25 finishes, doing so in both career starts since the Scottish Open became a co-sanctioned PGA TOUR event in 2022. Like many other contenders before him, Clark’s combination of elite driving distance, long iron play, and short-game skill make him an ideal fit to score at The Renaissance Club.

Erik van Rooyen
It’s not easy to find comparable courses on the PGA TOUR en masse that simulate this Scottish Links style of slow, wind-exposed and oversized greens. The coastal venues that have most closely emulated those characteristics, however, like Vidanta Vallarta and El Cardinal at Diamonte, are where van Rooyen has been at his best. The South African picked up his most recent victory at the World Wide Technology Championship in the Fall and continues to build a growing resume of high finishes on coastal venues.
He’s no stranger to the Scottish Links either, as van Rooyen has notched a pair of top-15 finishes at this event over his first two appearances when previously contested on the DP World Tour. With his long-term pedigree as a reliable ball striker and heightened baseline putting slower greens, it’s easy to see why. With a pair of top-6 finishes over his last five starts, Van Rooyen will return in great form to chase another top-20 finish in Scotland.
Ewen Ferguson
Speaking of returning to Scotland in great form, the 28-year-old Scotland native will be riding high for this homecoming, fresh off a victory at last week’s BMW International Open on the DP World Tour. The win marked Ferguson’s third since 2022 and is one he trended into with eight top-20 finishes over 15 starts on the DP World Tour so far this season.
Ferguson is an accurate fairway-finder who sacrifices distance off-the-tee, however plodders like Tom Kim, Aaron Rai, and David Lingmerth have not been deterred from contending on this moderately long layout at The Renaissance Club in recent years. From tee to green, Ferguson has sustained an impressive level of consistency, gaining across all three strokes gained categories for the 2024 season, ranking No. 5 on the DP World Tour in SG: Approach. While putting hasn’t been his strong suit, he should welcome a return to the familiar Scottish terrain. He is a perfect 3-for-3 in terms of cuts made at the Scottish Open and will return after a career-best T12 showing at this event last year.
Matt Wallace
The more we talk about scoring in unpredictable windy and wet conditions on a generous layout off-the-tee, which emphasizes short game around oversized wind-exposed slow greens, the more I find myself coming back to Matt Wallace, who picked up his most recent victory in similar conditions at the 2023 Corales Puntacana Championship. Wallace is a long yet inaccurate hitter, however his driving should not go penalized on a venue like The Renaissance Club, which already features one of the lowest hit fairway percentages amongst measured venues.
While the Scottish Links can be an unfamiliar beast for stateside PGA TOUR members, the Englishman is no stranger to these conditions overseas. Wallace already has four career victories under his belt in Europe from his former days on the DP World Tour and still enjoys splitting time between both Tours. Just two starts ago, he finished T15 at the KLM Open in the Netherlands. With seven made cuts over his last eight starts, Matt Wallace makes for an appealing placement consideration or a contrarian fantasy play in deeper draft formats.
