While it’s best known for its luxury hotel and casino in Las Vegas, Golden Nugget also has quite a presence in the world of online gaming.

For now, Golden Nugget Sportsbook is available to mobile and online players in New Jersey, Michigan, Virginia, West Virginia and Nevada. That will change in the future as the legal sports betting environment continues to evolve across the nation. A Pennsylvania sportsbook seems likely to join the party next, and Golden Nugget also has concrete plans for Illinois. Other possible additions in the near future include Arizona, Tennessee, Louisiana and Colorado sports betting.

For a detailed look at what Golden Nugget Sportsbook brings to the betting table, read on. We’ll start by taking a look at what the company offers its new players.

Yes, in states in which Golden Nugget is available via sports betting app or online, it’s legal to play and safe.

Golden Nugget is a gaming industry giant that knows its way around the legal and regulatory environment. The company only moved forward with a sportsbook offering outside of Nevada once it was legally able to do so.

Here’s a summary of where Golden Nugget stands in the following states:

  • New Jersey: Golden Nugget NJ Sportsbook is up and running in the Garden State. New Jersey is also home to one of the signature properties in the portfolio in Atlantic City.
  • Michigan: Online sports betting in Michigan launched in January 2021, and Golden Nugget was live the very first day. They are partnered with Keweenaw Bay Indian Community and their Ojibwa Casino.
  • Virginia: Legal sports betting in Virginia is also live. Golden Nugget debuted in October 2021, but does not have a partnership with a local casino, because that is not a requirement in Virginia.
  • West Virginia: Sports betting first debuted in the Mountain State in late 2018. It wasn’t until the second half of 2021 that Golden Nugget Sportsbook launched in WV thanks to a partnership with The Greenbrier.
  • Pennsylvania: Golden Nugget has been deemed a Qualified Gaming Entity (QGE) in Pennsylvania, which means it doesn’t require a land-based partner for its license. We expect that the launch of Golden Nugget PA is imminent.
  • Illinois: A partnership is in place between the Golden Nugget and the coming Danville Casino. The timeline is unclear, but we can expect a Golden Nugget IL online sportsbook eventually.
  • Tennessee: Tennessee online sports betting went live in November 2020. Golden Nugget did not launch in the first wave, but we’ll be watching for if they make a move in the market in the future.
  • Nevada: The flagship Golden Nugget Casino makes its home in Las Vegas, and the company also offers a mobile and online sportsbook for Nevada bettors.
  • Mississippi: Golden Nugget operates a retail sportsbook in Biloxi; however, mobile betting isn’t authorized in the state as of yet.
  • Louisiana: While nothing is set in stone, it appears likely that Golden Nugget will launch an online sportsbook in Louisiana in the coming month. Sports betting is expected to open to online retailers beginning in 2022 in the Pelican State.

All told, there are five physical Golden Nugget casinos: One in NJ, two in Nevada, and one each in Mississippi and Louisiana.

As online sports betting is legalized in the latter two states, we can expect the company to move quickly toward launching. For markets elsewhere in the United States, we’ll have to wait and see.

Golden Nugget Sportsbook: Create a new account

Creating an account at the Golden Nugget is a simple process that doesn’t take a lot of time. The same holds true whether you’re signing up online or via the Golden Nugget app.

To begin, click on our exclusive links to take advantage of the bonus bet welcome bonus, up to $250, for new users.

After clicking on one of our links, you’ll be redirected to a new page. Look for a big red “Sign Upbutton in the upper right. Click on that, and then you’ll see a pop-up window where you can begin entering your information.

First off, you’ll need to enter a valid email address and choose a password.

Next, it’s time for more individual info such as your full name, date of birth and the last four digits of your Social Security number. This information is necessary for verification purposes, which is the standard operating procedure for any reputable online sportsbook.

Last but not least, you’ll enter your address and phone number, and then set up a security question.

Once that’s done, click “Next,” and your new account will be created right away. The whole process takes just a couple of minutes.

Once you have an account with the Golden Nugget online sportsbook, you can look around at all that the offers. You can check out the lobby and sports listings, review current promotions and become familiar with the overall layout.

You’ll find that the platform is clean and easy to navigate around. Remember to make your first deposit to take advantage of the bonus bet offer of up to $250.

Download Golden Nugget sportsbook software

On the online casino side, Golden Nugget has developed a slick platform that has become quite the hit in available markets. In fact, Golden Nugget is a market leader for online gaming in the places it operates.

The company has taken its knowledge and know-how on that side of the business and brought it over to the online sportsbook operations. The result is a substantial experience for the end-user, whether it be via the desktop or mobile version of the platform.

Golden Nugget sportsbook app review

Some operators do well online but come up short on mobile, or vice versa. Others land somewhere in between.

Here’s what we found in our test of the Golden Nugget sportsbook app and online platforms, starting with the app side:

  • Availability: Golden Nugget has a mobile app available for both iPhone, iPad and Android devices. Clickable links for download are on the main website.
  • Speed: Both betting apps are quick, efficient and intuitive. We weren’t hampered by any lag time during our test.
  • Overall Performance: We found the performance to be solid overall. There weren’t any glitches when we put the app through the paces. The sportsbook app version of Golden Nugget performs just as well as the online version.
  • Markets: All of the betting markets you can find on the online platform are also available on the mobile app. Golden Nugget covers a wide range of sports and betting types.
  • Live Betting: Also called in-play betting, there are dedicated links in Golden Nugget’s main lobby to point you to events that are currently available for live wagering.
  • Bet Slip: The betting slip functions well on mobile. You can add and remove wagers with ease. Minimizing and restoring the bet slip is not an issue on mobile.
  • General Layout: It’s a clean layout that is easy to navigate around. Everything you need is easily accessible, and you won’t need to do a lot of hunting to find what you want.
  • Cashier: Just like the betting slip, the cashier function works fine on mobile. You and add and remove funds with ease.

Golden Nugget browser/desktop review

We took the same detailed look at the web-based version of Golden Nugget. Here’s what we found.

From the main website, you can enter your login information in the upper right. Right next to that, you’ll find clickable links for promos and rewards, banking and help.

Below that section, you’ll find another series of clickable links with tabs, including live betting, upcoming games and current promotions. On the left-hand side of the screen, you’ll see a listing of sports and a dedicated link for odds boosts.

The center of the screen is where you’ll see the main betting lobby, as well as a rotating banner of promotions. The default on the lobby is the popular upcoming events, but you can change it to the sport of your choice by clicking one of the dedicated links.

To the right, you’ll see additional promotional offers.

Also, this is where the bet slip will appear once you begin adding wagers.

On the far right, there’s a news feed that lists out promotions and other information.

You can minimize the feed by clicking the arrow at the top. When it’s fully expanded, the desktop experience is a bit cluttered. Minimizing it gives the main screen a much cleaner look.

If you’re interested in scrolling through the feed, you can restore it easily by clicking on the dedicated link.

On the bottom of the main website, you’ll find contact information and other clickable links.

All told, the Golden Nugget Sportsbook platform for the web is a solid offering that provides plenty of value for its users.

Golden Nugget overall user experience

We were pleased with the complete experience on both the online and mobile versions of Golden Nugget Sportsbook.

There’s something for bettors of all experience levels, despite there being naturally varying expectations.

How does Golden Nugget benefit casual bettors?

For casual bettors, they’ll find a platform that’s easy to use and filled with beginner information to help them get started.

There are dedicated sections on how to bet and rules, as well as several different support options in case anything comes up. Navigating around is easy, and everything you need is just a click or swipe away.

How does Golden Nugget benefit experienced bettors?

Experienced bettors will also benefit from a straightforward platform. Golden Nugget offers plenty of different markets and bet types. The site and app offer plenty of rotating promotions to provide users with extra bang for their buck.

Perhaps most importantly, this isn’t Golden Nugget’s first stab at the sports betting market. Odds and pricing are efficient and in line with what can be found elsewhere in the industry.

Golden Nugget sports betting options

In Las Vegas, Golden Nugget has a popular sportsbook, which is a bucket-list destination for many. The company knows what it’s doing when it comes to offering a product that’s attractive to the sports betting community.

You’ll find all of the standard bets such as spreads, moneyline, totals, parlays and teasers. There’s a wide assortment of prop and future wager opportunities, and the app and web-based versions have dedicated sections for live betting.

As for markets, Golden Nugget provides everything you would expect to find at a major sportsbook operation.

Here’s the list of the sports offerings at Golden Nugget Sportsbook:

  • Aussie rules football
  • Baseball
  • Basketball
  • Boxing
  • Cricket
  • Cycling
  • Darts
  • Football
  • Golf
  • Hockey
  • MMA
  • Motorsports
  • Rugby union and league
  • Soccer
  • Tennis

For major sports such as football and basketball, you’ll find both pro and college offerings. Soccer and ice hockey aficionados will find that all of the major leagues are represented.

Individual events such as golf and tennis feature all of the major tournaments happening around the world.

Golden Nugget also has bettors interested in niche sports covered with offerings such as cricket and rugby. If it’s a sport available to wager on which has at least a decent-sized following, you’ll find it here.

What’s not available at Golden Nugget

We didn’t find Golden Nugget to be lacking.

All of the sports and bet types you would expect to find at a major sportsbook are here. The company has a dedicated section for live betting and also offers various odds boosts and promotions to enhance the experience further.

Golden Nugget is on point with what today’s bettors expect to see.

Golden Nugget odds boosts

Golden Nugget hosts a dedicated section for odds boosts, which it refers to as “Golden Lines.”

Users on desktop or mobile can click on the link to see current offerings. During our test, we found boosted odds for future events such as the NFL MVP and the World Series winner.

Also, there were odds boosts for upcoming daily events, such as a prop bet tied to individual and team performance. There’s a dedicated promotions tab on Golden Nugget that features other current offerings, including a parlay boost that scales up based on the number of selections.

Golden Nugget pricing

Even the sportsbooks with the latest and greatest bells and whistles will find it tough to gain traction in today’s competitive environment if they aren’t on top of what the market will support. That means that fair pricing and efficient odds are a must.

Golden Nugget made its bones in sports betting with its iconic location in Las Vegas.

The sportsbook wouldn’t be such a popular destination in that market if the oddsmakers weren’t on point. They are, and the same holds true for the offerings on the web-based and mobile platforms.

For standard wagers, such as spreads and totals, pricing is set at a base of -110.

This line will vary by a few ticks based on market action, but you should know that Golden Nugget is right in line with industry standards.

The same holds true for spreads and totals.

We compared what Golden Nugget had to offer for several upcoming events. In all cases, it was basically in line with the consensus average found at other major sportsbooks. A half-point of difference was found here and there, but the same applies to other shops.

On moneyline odds, Golden Nugget was also right in range with market averages. There can be volatility on moneyline based on market action, but there were no eyebrow-raising outliers to be found. In most cases, Golden Nugget was right in line with the consensus, but there were some cases of a few ticks up or down.

For example, here are the average moneyline odds to be found for an upcoming NFL game:

  • Atlanta Falcons +190
  • Carolina Panthers -240

Here are the odds for the same contest at Golden Nugget:

  • Atlanta Falcons +185
  • Carolina Panthers -230

The Golden Nugget is offering a better price than the market average on the favorite side, while the market is generally better for the underdog. In short, you’ll find fair pricing and efficient odds here.

How to deposit and withdrawal winnings?

When signing up for a new online sportsbook, it’s a plus to see various ways to move money in and out. Different users have different needs, so one-size-fits-all solutions don’t typically work.

While you can’t expect every operator to offer every option, you should be able to find something that works for your situation.

Here are the banking options you’ll find at Golden Nugget:

  • Mastercard/Visa
  • Prepaid card
  • PayPal
  • ACH / eCheck / VIP Preferred
  • Online Bank Transfer
  • PayNearMe (7-Eleven, CVS, Family Dollar Stores)

Cash at cage

If you happen to live near the land-based partner of the online sportsbook, depositing or withdrawing at the cashier is a good option. Note this is not available in all states, so it’s worth checking before making a special trip just for this purpose. Here are the locations:

  • GoldenNugget online sportsbook NJ. Cash at cage is available at Golden Nugget casino, 600 Huron Avenue, Atlantic City
  • Golden Nugget online sportsbook MI. Cash at cage may eventually be available at Ojibwa Casino, 16449 Michigan Ave, Baraga

How to contact customer support

Similar to banking, finding several ways to get in touch with a customer service representative is also a big positive when signing up. Golden Nugget has the bases covered here and offers several convenient options for finding help.

There’s a dedicated help section, as well as clickable links on how to bet and general betting rules. If problems arise, support is just a click away via the live chat feature. Clicking on that will prompt users to enter their information and the nature of their query.

From there, it’s into the queue to talk to the next available rep. In our test, we didn’t have to wait long at all to chat with a real person. If live chat isn’t your thing, there’s also a dedicated phone number for support or an email option.

Golden Nugget gets a thumbs up for providing several methods of customer support.

History of Golden Nugget

The Golden Nugget luxury hotel and casino in Las Vegas traces its roots back to 1946. Fast-forward to 2005 and Landry’s Entertainment acquired Golden Nugget. Today, five physical casinos are bearing the Golden Nugget brand in Nevada, Louisiana, Mississippi, and New Jersey.

Golden Nugget is a popular destination for sports bettors in Las Vegas, where it also offers an online and mobile platform. Since the legalization of sports betting in New Jersey, Golden Nugget has expanded with retail and online options for those in the Garden State. While online sportsbooks have launched in Michigan, Virginia and West Virginia.

While future sports betting expansion plans aren’t crystal clear, Golden Nugget has the infrastructure in place to make moves as additional market opportunities open up.

For now, the sportsbook operations in MI, NJ, NV, VA & WV have received high marks as the company aims to live up to the Vegas standard. We expect the same as it continues to expand.
