The German National Team is led by manager Julian Nagelsmann. Germany Euro 2024 odds are the third-shortest to win the tournament. France, England, and Spain will be their biggest hurdles to lifting another trophy. Germany is a very popular wager at top soccer betting sites – to both win and make the final.

What Group Is Germany In?

Germany shares Group A with Switzerland, Hungary, and Scotland. The Germans currently rank 16th in the FIFA World Rankings, tops in the group. Switzerland isn’t far behind (19th), while Hungary (26th) and Scotland (39th) fall behind. Nagelsmann’s squad is expected to come away from Group A victories, leading the odds boards. Overall, Germany’s biggest competition comes from France and England, both of whom have shorter Euro 2024 odds.

Up to three teams can advance into the knockout phase of the Euro 2024 bracket. During the group stage, teams earn points for wins (three) and draws (one). Whichever two teams accumulate the most points in the group advance. Additionally, the four highest-scoring third-place finishers also advance. If Germany finishes third, their fate depends on how they compare to the third-place finishers in the other groups.

How Germany Qualified for Euro 2024

The path to qualification is simple – host the tournament! As hosts, Germany automatically qualified and got to skip qualifying matches. In total, 53 countries participated, with 24 securing a spot in the tournament.

However, no host country has won the tournament in 40 years. Will Germany, the most decorated football country on the continent, break that streak?

Germany Likely Starting Lineup

  • GK Manuel Neuer/Marc-Andre ter Stegen
  • DF Joshua Kimmich
  • DF Jonathan Tah
  • DF Antonio Rudiger
  • DF David Raum
  • MF Toni Kroos
  • MF Robert Andrich
  • MF Jamal Musiala
  • MF Ilkay Gundogan
  • MF Florian Wirtz
  • FW Niclas Fullkrug

Notable players

Welcome back from retirement, Toni Kroos. The midfielder was thought to be out for this tournament, having retired from international play. But the promise of righting the ship after multiple early exits (between the World Cup and 2020 Euros) brought Kroos back for one more go. The Real Madrid star only has one goal this season, but adds seven assists, the eighth-most in La Liga.

Robert Andrich pairs with Kroos, one of the more talented midfield duos on the continent. The 2023-24 season has been his most productive, netting four goals in 18 starts (previous high: four goals in 21 starts, 2021-22).

The goalkeeper situation will be one to monitor. Manuel Neuer suffered a serious injury in 2022. Since then, he and Marc-Andre ter Stegen have traded time in the net. Both are expected to see time, with Nagelsmann declining to announce either as No. 1.
