The Favorites
Many are calling this Grand Slam the most wide-open field we’ve witnessed in quite some time. Let’s start with Carlos Alcaraz (+250), who has dealt with a forearm injury over the last two months. It cost him a chance to compete in the Italian Open in early May after he defended his Indian Wells crown in March and reached the Miami Open quarterfinals. The two-time Grand Slam champ first suffered the injury during a practice session in Monaco, hampering the start of his clay-court season.
But Alcaraz has been adamant that he’s nearing a full recovery. He aims to bounce back after falling to Novak Djokovic (6-3, 5-7, 6-1, 6-1) in last year’s tournament. Djokovic tallied his record-breaking 24th major title and third Roland Garros title with a victory over Casper Ruud.
Nevertheless, Djokovic (+300) is just 12-5 since the start of the 2024 campaign. He’s also seen his hold rate shrink from 88.9% in 2023 to 83.1% this year. In March, he moved on from coach Goran Ivanisevic, who has been credited with taking Djokovic’s serve to the next level.
Stefanos Tsitsipas (+750) is set further down the French Open board. He makes for an intriguing bet after his near upset over Djokovic in the final a few years ago. Expect a stellar effort in an attempt to build upon his valuable experience.
Rafael Nadal (+1200), ranked world No. 276, was preparing for a brief comeback attempt in Brisbane in January. But the injury bug caused him to miss the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam event in 2024. Unlike Alcaraz, his health is uncertain.

On The Precipice Of History
The 2024 French Open will see Iga Swiatek (-135), priced as nearly an odds-on favorite, bidding to become the first woman since Justine Henin in 2007 to claim the tournament title three years in a row. She blitzed past Aryna Sabalenka (+550), who showcases the second-best French Open odds, in Saturday’s Internazionali BNL d’Italia final.
The four-time French Open champ is 77-10 on clay in the WTA ranks and 28-2 at Roland Garros. In 2024, Siwatek boasted a career-high winning percentage (90.5%) and hold percentage (83.3%). The development of Swiatek’s serve has helped lift her game (and market rating) to new heights.
Moreover, Swiatek and Sabalenka find themselves on opposite sides of the draw, meaning Swiatek could avoid a significant test until the final day of the competition. Granted, this notion is already baked into the betting market. Since she was as high as a -400 favorite against Sabalenka in Rome, similar pricing would allow Swiatek bettors to hedge their initial wagers if they square off again. Should anyone other than Sabalenka earn a bid in the finale, the price point would be even bigger.
