What Sports Are Available at Sleeper?
Sleeper offers fantasy contests covering all of the top domestic leagues, including the NFL, NBA, MLB, and college football and basketball. Plus, Sleeper is one of the few fantasy platforms to support fantasy leagues for esports. As of now, Sleeper does not support free or paid contests on any international leagues or niche markets, though more options may be added in the future.
Below are the available leagues for each of Sleeper’s current game modes:
- Sleeper Fantasy Leagues: NFL, NBA, LCS (League of Legends)
- Sleeper Daily Drafts: NFL, NBA, MLB, NCAAF, NCAAB
- Sleeper Picks: NFL, NBA, MLB, NCAAF, NCAAB, NHL
Sleeper has also indicated that more sports will be added in the future, particularly to Daily Drafts and Picks. Check back here for updates on any new sports.
What Game Types Are Available at Sleeper?
Sleeper has a number of fantasy options available, which we will explore in this section. To help make things clearer, we have divided the options into Sleeper’s free-to-play leagues and real money contests (i.e., Daily Draft, Picks).
Remember that Sleeper’s basic free-to-play leagues are available in all states, but you must be located in one of Sleeper’s nearly 30 available-to-pay states to enter contests for cash prizes.
What Free Options Does Sleeper Have?
Whether you’re looking for somewhere to host your office fantasy football league or you want to compete against strangers online, Sleeper has exciting formats for fantasy NFL, NBA, and esports leagues. Best of all, Sleeper offers the most customization options and commissioner tools of any fantasy platform.
Sleeper fantasy football and basketball are both playable as draft leagues and have a number of things in common. For both, you can form your own league with friends or enter a league managed by Sleeper. When you’re drafting, Sleeper lets you choose between snake drafts, linear drafts, and auction drafts. These leagues follow three formats.
- Redraft: Teams draft a full team from scratch each year.
- Keeper: Each team retains a designated number of players; teams draft non-retained players, free agents, and rookies each year.
- Dynasty: Each team retains its entire roster; teams draft for free agents and/or rookies only.
When playing Sleeper Fantasy Football, you can choose whether you want a classic league, with trades, setting lineups, waivers, and other team management features. If you prefer a more casual experience, you can also select the Best Ball option, which will automatically field each team’s highest-scoring lineups each week with no in-season team management.
Meanwhile, Sleeper fantasy basketball leagues can be played in two unique ways: Game Pick leagues or Lock-In leagues. Both of these formats are designed to counteract the impact that league scheduling can have on fantasy scoring (i.e., balancing out the fact that some teams play more games than others each week). These formats work as follows.
- Game Pick: Before the start of each week, you select one game that will count for each player on your roster’s score. Even if a player plays three times that week, only the game you select will count toward their points total. You can’t edit your selection after the fact, so choose wisely.
- Lock-In: Once each of your players plays their first game each week, you get to pick whether you want to “lock in” their points total from that game or void their score and use their next game instead. If you opt to gamble and take their score from their next game, you cannot revert to their original score, so choose carefully. This “deal or no deal”-style dilemma is repeated for each player until they play their final game of each week.
In addition to Sleeper fantasy football and fantasy basketball leagues, Sleeper offers a selection of rotating contests, like a massive Bracket Mania pool each year for March Madness and Sleeper LCS fantasy leagues for the League of Legends Championship Series.
What Real Money Options Does Sleeper Have?
Sleeper has two game formats for players who want to compete for real money prizes: Sleeper Daily Drafts and Sleeper Picks.
Sleeper Daily Drafts
Sleeper Daily Drafts are mini-draft leagues where you pay $1 to enter an eight-player draft league for the upcoming week of NFL, NBA, NCAAF, NCAAB, or MLB action. Once the snake draft is complete, you have 10 minutes to choose whether you want to pay an additional entry fee to enter your lineup into additional prize pools called Bonus Contests.
If you choose not to enter your lineup into additional prize pools, you will compete only within your initial eight-player draft, with first place collecting $4, second place collecting $2, and third place collecting $1. If you do want to enter Bonus Contests, simply select your desired entry fee, from $5 to $1,000, and you will be matched against players who choose the same entry fee. You can choose to enter a 1 vs.1 head-to-head Bonus Contest or an eight-player GroupContest. Note that since Bonus Contests are made up of players from outside your original eight-player draft, you may share some players in common with the other entrants in your Bonus Contest. These contests pay out according to the following structure:
H2H Contest Entry Fee | Winner Receives |
---|---|
$5 | $9 |
$10 | $18 |
$25 | $45 |
$50 | $90 |
$100 | $180 |
$250 | $450 |
$500 | $900 |
$1,000 | $1,800 |
Group Contest Entry Fee | Winner & Runners-Up Payouts |
---|---|
$5 | 1st — $20 2nd — $10 3rd — $5 |
$10 | 1st — $40 2nd — $20 3rd — $10 |
$25 | 1st — $110 2nd — $50 3rd — $20 |
$50 | 1st — $210 2nd — $100 3rd — $50 |
$100 | 1st — $420 2nd — $200 3rd — $100 |
Sleeper Picks
Sleeper Picks is the only format at Sleeper Fantasy that does not use a draft format and in which you do not compete against other players. Sleeper Picks is a pick’em-style game. You build a contest entry by making a series of “more” or “less” predictions on player stats and then entering a real money stake. If all of your predictions are correct, the entry will return a real money payout.
To play with Sleeper Picks, click the dollar sign icon in the center of the bottom toolbar in the Sleeper app. You will then be able to view all of the available player stats on which you can make “more” or “less” picks. Each “more” and “less” pick has its own payout multiplier (e.g., 1.68x), and the total payout of your Sleeper Picks entry is determined by the product of all the multipliers on your entry. The maximum payout is 100x your stake.
To give you an example, let’s build an NFL picks entry on Super Bowl LVIII. The first step is to choose “more” (indicated by the up arrow) or “less” (indicated by the down arrow) on between two and eight players’ stats. Let’s say you select the following picks:
- Brock Purdy (SF) more than 242.5 passing yards (1.75x payout multiplier)
- Patrick Mahomes (KC) more than 1.5 passing touchdowns (1.63x payout multiplier)
- Travis Kelce (KC) less than 6.5 receptions (2.05x payout multiplier)
- Christian McCaffrey (SF) less than 90.5 rushing yards (1.80x payout multiplier)
- Harrison Butker (KC) less than 1.5 field goals made (1.84x payout multiplier)
All of the individual multipliers on this entry combine into an overall multiplier of 19.36x, which is applied to your entry amount if all your picks are correct. That means that a $10 entry on this ticket would return a payout of $193.60 if it wins.
While several DFS platforms offer a similar format, Sleeper Picks offers the most comprehensive range of statistics that you can choose to include in your entries. You can build Sleeper Picks contests on the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, NCAAF, and NCAAB, and you can also combine selections from different sports in the same entry.
What are the best Sleeper games for beginners?
If you’re new to playing with fantasy platforms like Sleeper, you may want to start with a play-for-fun draft league to get used to draft strategy and fantasy scoring. Sleeper also offers AI-powered mock drafts to let you get the hang of things before you enter a draft league. Best Ball leagues are also a good option for novice players since you don’t have to worry about managing your team after you draft.
If you don’t want to wade into the world of fantasy scoring or draft strategy, Sleeper Picks is your best bet. When you build Sleeper Picks entries, all you do is make “more” or “less” predictions on real-life stats, similar to making player prop bets at a traditional sportsbook. And since you don’t compete against other users when you play with Sleeper Picks, you don’t have to worry about coming up against a more experienced player.
Can I Play Against My Friends at Sleeper?
Yes, you can. One of the main purposes of Sleeper Fantasy is to provide a platform on which you can host your fantasy leagues with your friends. Sleeper provides in-app social features, including DMs and group chats, plus best-in-class commissioner tools and customization options.
Sleeper also has a handful of other social features, including “Channels” that function as public group chats on various topics, like “FF Advice” where players can ask and answer fantasy football questions. You can post a trade you received or a waiver you’re considering and get feedback from real-life players in the Sleeper community.
Banking at Sleeper Fantasy
Depositing and withdrawing at Sleeper is reliable and very straightforward, but it’s worth noting that Sleeper currently supports a very limited range of payment methods.
When depositing, users can choose to use a credit card (Visa or Discover only), a bank transfer, or Apple Pay on eligible devices. There are no fees or minimum deposits, but there is a maximum deposit of $1,000 per day. Deposits typically take 1-3 days to process.
Sleeper processes withdrawals exclusively by bank transfer. To withdraw money, you must provide Sleeper with an email address and your SSN, enter the amount you wish to withdraw, and Sleeper will then initiate the transfer. Withdrawals can take up to a week to process.
Sleeper Rewards and Promos
As of now, Sleeper has not yet added a rewards or XP program to its platform. While you can track league history and accumulate awards, there is no system by which you can earn points or credits by playing with Sleeper, which you can then redeem for rewards.
You can find one-off bonus offers within the Sleeper platform, however. These usually take the form of “Pick On Sale” promotions in the Sleeper Picks menu, which effectively give you a “freebie” selection to add to your Sleeper Picks entry.
For example, Jayson Tatum’s points total could be reduced from 27.5 to 0.5 points, with the “more” prediction set at a 1.77x multiplier. That means you can go ahead and add the pick and multiplier to your ticket, and it will count as a successful selection as long as Tatum scores a single point.
Remember that when you sign up for a new account using the Sleeper DFS promo code THELINES, you get your first deposit matched in bonus credit up to $100.
Sleeper Design and Platform
The easiest way to play with Sleeper is to download the Sleeper Fantasy app for your iOS or Android mobile device. The app can be downloaded for free from the App Store and boasts lightning-fast update speeds, very smooth navigation, and an extremely feature-dense layout. You can also play in-browser on the Sleeper desktop website.
When you open the app, you can use the toolbar at the bottom of your screen to navigate through the different game modes, with dedicated icons for fantasy leagues, live scoreboards, Sleeper Picks, your Sleeper Feed, and an extra widget for Daily Drafts, fantasy football research, podcasts, advice, and more.
You can also access your profile, DMs, group chats, and Sleeper wallet directly in the app, which makes it easy to get money on and off the platform with just a few taps. The app has an average rating of 4.7/5 from iOS users and 4.2/5 from Android users, and it continues to improve with each software update.
With so much functionality packed into a single app, it’s easy to see how Sleeper has become one of the most-used fantasy apps on the market.
Fair Play, Responsible Gambling, and Account Support at Sleeper
When playing for real money prizes with Sleeper or any other DFS platform, it’s important to gamble responsibly. To that end, Sleeper provides resources to help you play within your limits. If you head to the App & Support menu and select ‘Responsible Gaming,’ you can find a number of options to limit your gambling. These allow you to restrict your use of paid-entry contests on the Sleeper platform but will not affect your access to Sleeper’s free-to-play formats.
If you need support with your Sleeper account, start by consulting the FAQ. If you can’t find the answer to your question, you can use the chat function, which should get you a response by the end of the day. You can also submit an email ticket to [email protected] or contact them on X/Twitter @SleeperSupport.
