How Does FanDuel Dinger Tuesday work?

Bettors must place at least $25 on any player to hit a home run. For every ball that goes yard, regardless of whether your home run bet hits, the bettor gets back $5 in bonus bets (up to $25). If your selected player hits a home run, you receive your payout in real money, plus the incremental $5 in bonus funds for the total home run count for the entire game. Here’s which game I’m focusing on tonight. Click on the odds to bet now.

Dodgers At Rockies, 8:40 p.m. ET

Will Smith

Unsurprisingly, Coors Field will host the game with the highest total of the day at . It’s expected to be around 80° with a slight breeze, offering ideal conditions for ball flight and distance. Just ask any golfer who’s ever teed them up in Denver.

Connor Seabold is on the mound for Colorado and in the midst of a very poor 2023 campaign. In nine starts, he’s thrown 56.2 innings and allowed 11 home runs. His 1.75 HR/9 rate is 18th-worst among pitchers who have thrown at least 50 innings.

While he’s pitched a bit better at home, allowing seven of his 11 dingers on the road, Dodgers catcher Will Smith has preferred facing righties this year. Eight of his 12 homers have come off right-handed opponents. He’s also the only batter in LA’s lineup with a dinger off Seabold, having blasted one on April 3 when these teams faced earlier this year.

Editor’s Note

Kershaw Getting Dinged This Year

The ageless Clayton Kershaw is pitching for the Dodgers, which may give pause to some readers when selecting a Dinger Tuesday bet from this game. However, those who have followed the hall-of-fame pitcher’s career closely remember a number of seasons where he allowed 20-plus dingers in a season. Having given up 12 HRs already this season, he’s currently on track for his third in the last seven years.

For what it’s worth, Colorado has hit 54% of its measly 72 home runs at Coors. Let’s get those dingers going tonight!

Alternate Option: Freddie Freeman

I would also consider the Dodgers’ MVP candidate in this spot, Freddie Freeman. He went 2-2 against Seabold earlier this season and while both hits were singles, they were both hit to the outfield.

Freeman has actually hit more homers against lefties than righties this year, an oddity for the 33-year old lefty hitter. 75% of his career home runs have come off right-handed pitchers. He’s also hit righties much harder this year overall, cranking out 20 doubles and five homers with a .319 batting average.
