EPL Top Scorer Odds Breakdown

Tottenham’s Harry Kane is tied with Liverpool’s Mahomed Salah for the best odds at BetMGM. Kane topped the EPL last season (23 goals), just barely nudging Salah by a goal. While Kane is looking for a second straight scoring title, a Champions League berth is at the forefront of his efforts. Tottenham finished seventh in the table in 2020-21.

Timo Werner (Chelsea, +1600) and Sadio Mane (Liverpool, +1800) are third and fourth in odds, respectively, but have considerably longer odds than Kane and Salah. Neither commands a strong handle, either. Instead, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Arsenal) comes in third in ticket percent at BetMGM (15.9%) and first in handle (44.4%). Aubameyang was second in scoring during the 2019-20 season.

Another notable number is Jamie Vardy (Leicester City), who holds the fourth-most handle share (4.0%) despite being seventh in odds (+2500) and tied for eighth in number of bets.

Salah is the biggest mover so far at BetMGM, jumping from +450 to +300. Kane also saw a bump in his odds after opening at +350.

2021-22 EPL Betting Guide

Biggest liabilities

A liability in sports betting refers to betting options that would result in a large payout to betters by a sportsbook. For example, a player with high odds, say +2000, that sees over 40% of the total money bet on them would cost the sportsbook a lot of money should that player hit.

According to BetMGM, Aubameyang is the biggest liability this season. Sharp bettors are all over Aubameyang. Despite his longshot odds, he garners 44.4% of all of the handle. The bets rolling in on him are larger, too– his 15.9% ticket share is disproportionate to his handle share. However, we do not know the total amount bet into this market at this point.

Kane and Salah are also listed among the biggest liabilities, per BetMGM. At a combined 40.9% of the tickets and 33.6% of the handle, lots of bettors are on board with them.
