Super Bowl 59 Odds: Will Chiefs & Eagles’ Injury Reports Impact The Handicap?

The stage is set, and the Chiefs and Eagles will again meet for Super Bowl 59. Injuries don’t figure to be a massive storyline, unlike the last meeting, which saw Patrick Mahomes play on a bum ankle. But there are still notable early injury reports to monitor for Chiefs vs. Eagles, redux.
Which key players and position groups should bettors monitor over the coming two weeks before they bet Super Bowl 59 odds?

Injury Concerns For Eagles Linemen
The main areas to watch are on the Eagles’ side of things.
On offense, they had to do some serious reshuffling against the Commanders. C Cam Jurgens, the regular starter, was available only as an emergency option. He has been dealing with a back injury. G Landon Dickerson, who has some experience at C, took his place.
Unfortunately for the Eagles, Dickerson hurt his knee. He tried fighting through the injury for a bit but was severely limited.
Jurgens wound up taking over and played about 40% of the snaps.
If Dickerson and Jurgens can both get healthy, the Eagles will play their expected starters across the offensive line. If either can’t get there, Tyler Steen will likely draw a start. If his fellow Alabama product is out, he would fill in for Dickerson at guard. If Jurgens is out but Dickerson plays, then Dickerson would likely shift inside again.
Steen, a second-year man picked in the third round, has only drawn three NFL starts.
On the other side of the ball, DL Brandon Graham sounds like a longshot to return. The former Super Bowl hero has given some cagey quotes. He sustained a triceps injury expected to knock him out for the season. He says he’s taking it “one day at a time.”

Rashee Rice Not Returning For Chiefs
Chiefs fans may be hopeful that star WR Rashee Rice could return early from a knee injury framed similarly to Graham’s as a season-ender.
Unfortunately, that doesn’t appear to be a possibility. Chiefs coach Andy Reid already said Rice won’t return this season. The team also reportedly never reopened his practice window, a step they would have needed to take to get him back into the fold.
Hollywood Brown, Xavier Worthy, and DeAndre Hopkins will continue operating as the primary WRs. Worthy continues to play like the team’s top target. He led in targets, catches, and yards against Buffalo.
Possible Impact of Eagles & Chiefs’ Injuries
Since the Eagles already have a well-stocked DL, Graham’s return or absence shouldn’t impact much.
Instead, bettors should monitor the status of the interior offensive linemen. Jurgens and/or Dickerson’s absence would mean Steen might face off against all-world DL Chris Jones.
We don’t have much sample to work with when projecting Steen. But the fact that the team picked him in the third round and hasn’t seen a reason to play him probably isn’t a good sign.
The Eagles could be in trouble if he proves to be a pigeon. Jalen Hurts struggled to react to interior blitzes from the Rams and Packers. Jones provided the fastest interior pressures in the league this season. Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo is also renowned for his creative blitz packages.
