why can't I bet on Duke odds in New Jersey?

In New Jersey, placing bets on any college games within the state or involving New Jersey-based teams is illegal. With the Sweet 16 and Elite Eight tipping off in Newark, N.J., at The Prudential Center, New Jersey residents aren't permitted to wager on any of these three games.

Those in the Garden State must travel to New York or elsewhere to bet on Alabama vs. BYU or Duke vs. Arizona odds.
