Duke at NC State Odds: Betting Preview

After falling victim to Wake Forest on Feb. 24, the ninth-ranked Blue Devils bounced back with consecutive home wins over Virginia and Louisville. Yet, the Wolfpack present more of a challenge — given they covered Saturday’s loss at North Carolina as 11-point underdogs.

Defensively, Duke switches and utilizes drop coverage ad nauseam. According to CBB Analytics, it ranks in the eighth percentile of mid-range jumpers allowed across Division I. Moreover, opponents rank in the fifth percentile of mid-range efficiency (42.6%).

Enter the Wolfpack, which boast a bevy of guards to attack this very weakness. Despite manufacturing just 25 points in the second half against the Tar Heels, DJ Horne and Jayden Taylor combined for 42 points. Overall, NC State settles into the 83rd percentile of mid-range shooting frequency.

If the Wolfpack aren’t overwhelmed on the glass while managing to keep center DJ Burns out of foul trouble, they can hang within the six-point spread.

Haslametrics forecasts a final score of 77.6-71.6, favoring Duke odds. It’s right in line with the current spread. For more insight, subscribe to Outside Shots, TheLines.com’s college basketball betting podcast.

Where Can You Bet On College Basketball Player Props?

North Carolina, Arizona, Colorado, Iowa, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia Ohio, and West Virginia outlaw betting on college props. Other states match the guidance of banning in-state school prop betting.

Virginia allows betting on in-state schools but not props on in-state players. The remaining states with sportsbooks allow wagering (plus live bets) on college props, including in-state teams.
