DraftKings and Churchill Downs Incorporated (CDI) have announced a new multi-year partnership. This deal will bring a new DraftKings horse race betting app, with the aim to increase DraftKings’ footprint in parimutuel betting. Through CDI’s TwinSpires brand, DraftKings will gain advanced deposit wagering for horse racing betting focus.

The partnership will give rise to DK HORSE, a new standalone app that focuses on horse racing events. This app will be separate from the DraftKings Sportsbook and DraftKings Casino. The potential for integration with other DraftKings accounts will be discussed at a later date following the launch of the horse racing app.

The DraftKings-Churchill Down partnership will aim to be official and launch in time for the May 2023 Kentucky Derby. DK HORSE will aim to be available in all markets that allow for regulated horse racing betting.

“We are excited to collaborate with Churchill Downs Incorporated, not only to give our existing customers an opportunity to engage with pari-mutuel horse wagering, but also to acquire new customers efficiently during marquee horse racing moments,” said Jason Robins, CEO and Chairman of the Board at DraftKings. “Due to the structure of the agreement, we expect this new product offering to be immediately profitable.”

The partnership grants DraftKings access to official horse racing data that is procured by Churchill Downs. This includes Triple Crown events and smaller races like the Kentucky Oaks. The official data will be used to provide best-in-class odds for horse racing events.

“We believe the depth and quality of our online offering through TwinSpires is unmatched in horse racing,” said Bill Carstanjen, CEO of CDI. “We are excited to establish this relationship with DraftKings and to deliver a full end-to-end white label ADW solution that will introduce their significant base of sports betting customers to horse racing wagering.”

Other Operators Embracing Horse Racing

DraftKings isn’t the only gambling operator that is embracing sports betting to the fullest. Caesars announced the launching of its Caesars Racebook in Maryland. Maryland is a newfound online wagering market that is already seeing early success.

Now is the window for horse racing operators to begin gathering more players. The beginning of the Triple Crown season is only a few months away. The DK HORSE app will soon be in the hands of players in multiple markets.
