Two more sportsbook operators, DraftKings and BetMGM, have gained market access in North Carolina through partnerships with NASCAR and Charlotte Motor Speedway. This will allow both operators to launch a mobile app in the Tar Heel State. The market is progressing despite there being no official launch date for North Carolina sportsbooks. The hope is to have them up and running in time for March Madness.

DraftKings And BetMGM Are Coming to North Carolina

North Carolina will be home to many sportsbook operators alongside DraftKings and BetMGM. Fanatics Sportsbook, bet365, FanDuel, and ESPN BET have all gained market access through local partnerships. This brings the total number of confirmed operators to six. There are 11 available sportsbook licenses in North Carolina.

DraftKings Expands NASCAR Relationship with North Carolina Agreement

Looking at the DraftKings deal, the partnership serves as an “Expansion of Sponsorship.” DK is an authorized gaming partner and will benefit from the NASCAR ecosystem.

“DraftKings and NASCAR have collaborated closely with each other over the years, sharing a like-minded commitment to enhancing the fan experience,” said Matt Kalish, President, of DraftKings North America. “We look forward to the next chapter in our journey together and offering our leading mobile sportsbook to fans in the state of North Carolina.”

Once the North Carolina market goes live, DraftKings will be operational in 27 states.

BetMGM Signs Partnership with Charlotte Motor Speedway

BetMGM has signed an agreement with Charlotte Motor Speedway for North Carolina access. Fans will see BetMGM signage at the racetrack during meets. Bettors will also see NASCAR events at the speedway promoted heavily on the BetMGM app.

“We have been eagerly awaiting legal, safe, regulated online sports betting in North Carolina, a state with more than 10 million people and one of the most vibrant sports environments in the country,” said BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt. “BetMGM’s partnership with Charlotte Motor Speedway meets a great demand for entertainment from North Carolinians. Together we will deliver a premier and responsible gaming product that benefits many state agencies.”

North Carolina Launch Window Approaching

Right now, the state is targeting a North Carolina launch in time for March Madness betting. Gov. Roy Cooper has made it clear he wants sports betting live in time for the tournament.

Sportsbook applicants have already submitted and are being reviewed by the lottery commission. Additionally, the lottery commission confirmed the final rules, leaving the applications as one of the final hurdles for the launch. North Carolina’s betting market is inching towards launch at a steady pace.
