When will DeAndre Hopkins be back, return to Cardinals?

Hopkins suffered a torn MCL in Arizona’s Monday night loss to the Rams back on Dec. 13. The injury required surgery, but there is still a possibility that the star WR will be back soon. So when will DeAndre Hopkins be back and return to the Cardinals offense?

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported in mid-December that Hopkins would “likely need 6 weeks of recovery.”

Here are projected dates of the Cardinals playoff games with the caveat that games could be played on a Saturday or Sunday, and – of course – that the Cardinals would need to advance in each round. For the sake of consistency, these dates are for each Sunday of the playoffs.

  • Arizona Divisional Round: Sunday, January 23
  • Cardinals NFC Title Game: Sunday, January 30
  • Super Bowl: Sunday, February 13

A DeAndre Hopkins return for the Cardinals Wild Card against the Rams will not happen as it would only be 34 days since the injury. Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury confirmed on Wednesday that Hopkins would not play Monday. Hopkins coming back for the Divisional Round would be pushing it for sure, but it is not out of the realm of possibility.

The Divisional Round would be 5 weeks and 6 days since the injury, a day shy of 6 weeks. A return for the NFC Championship game would be a day shy of 7 weeks and the Super Bowl would be a day shy of 9 weeks.

Cardinals odds

The Arizona Cardinals were cruising right along during the regular season with Hopkins in the lineup. But Arizona stumbled in its first full game without the WR, falling in embarrassing fashion to the Lions. The next week it was more of the same as the Cards were dumped by the Colts. In Week 18, they fell 38-30 to Seattle.

Here are Cardinals futures moving forward.
