Odds to win Daytona 500: The Field

Denny Hamlin +850: Hamlin is the unsurprising favorite at DraftKings Sportsbook. He’s won three Daytona 500s – a feat only accomplished by the best drivers of all time – and two of the last three runs. Hamlin, who drives Toyota, is one of the only drivers to break Ford’s dominance in this race; Ford has won 11 of the last 14 races here.

Teammates Chase Elliott (+1200) and Kyle Larson (+1300) come in just behind Hamlin, with their best odds coming at FanDuel Sportsbook. Larson won last year’s Cup Series behind a downright ridiculous 10 wins, more than the next five drivers in the standings combined. Elliott finished the 2021 season fourth in points and had 15 top five finishes.

Joey Logano (+1300) is the first Ford representative on the board. Logano runs with Team Penske, which is well represented in the field, including rookies Austin Cindric (+2500) and Harrison Burton (+8000). Cindric will be a driver to remember for Rookie of the Year and, given Ford’s success in this race, is a name to watch. Burton has four wins in the Xfinity Series over the last two years and offers an interesting longshot opportunity.

A look behind the curtain: FanDuel’s Jim Sannes commented to TheLines on Ford’s recent run:

“Fords typically do a tremendous job of working together on superspeedways. That organization means they pit together, which typically is a big help. They also just have some of the better drivers for that track type. Is this something that limits me to just Fords? No. For Daytona, specifically, it seems to me like the Toyotas are undervalued.”

How to bet the race

There are plenty of ways to bet on the Daytona 500 with the most straightforward bet being an outright winner. All of the above odds are to win outright. However, the options extend well beyond winners.

You can bet on top three and top five (10, 20) finishes, head-to-heads, and several special props. Head to head betting is one of the more popular ways to bet NASCAR and offers excitement even if the drivers aren’t leading the field. For example, who will finish higher: Austin Dillon (-115) or Kyle Busch (-115)?

This year, special props for the Daytona 500 include team finishes (ex. will all Joe Gibbs Racing cars finish inside the top 10?) and whether the winner will also lead the most laps.
