There’s nothing more mainstream than a Hollywood movie
Hollywood knows how to market a movie, and the audience for The Magnificent Seven will be drawn from every demographic—mainstream family entertainment.
The deal with Twitch to put on the “The Magnificent Seven Online Gamer Showdown” marks the realization that Hollywood marketers have discovered a powerful route to their target market.
The match is an important recognition that esports is part of the entertainment portfolio common to a vast number of households.
It may also suggest that Hollywood knows where its competition lies. Esports players comfortable spending their entertainment time in their own home environment may need to be actively motivated to leave their computers and game consoles to get out to see a movie.
