Ohio State star wide receiver Jeremiah Smith bolsters Heisman with another huge game in the fifth-ranked Buckeyes’ 31-14 road win over 14th-ranked Iowa. Ohio State has produced a long list of great receivers, and Smith may be the best of them all.

Jeremiah Smith Bolsters Heisman Stock

In the win over Iowa, Smith had 11 catches for 206 yards and two TDs, and after he crossed the goal line for a 57-yard score, he flashed the Heisman pose. He does not lack confidence and, after the game, stated, "You've just got to let the Heisman voters or whoever it is know that I'm the best player in the country. I've got to be there."

Smith is a 6’4”, 224-pound specimen that has speed and great hands. He leads the nation with 823 receiving yards and is tied for first with nine TDs. His performance against Iowa was his second straight game with over 200 receiving yards, and that has not happened in college football since the 2020 season.

Passing Some Greats

Before the Iowa game Smith already had the Ohio State record for most receiving yards, which was impressive, as before the last game he was only four games into his junior season. In the Iowa game, he passed two star receivers now in the NFL for school records, passing Emeka Egbuka for career catches and Chris Olave for career TD catches.

Smith also tied another OSU receiver in the NFL, Marvin Harrison Jr., for the most games with 100+ receiving yards with 15. In yesterday's win over the Hawkeyes, he also had two catches of at least 54 yards.

Get Ready for Sunday

Smith is positioning himself not only for a Heisman Trophy but also to be the top pick in the next NFL Draft. He is a game changer and has the tools to be the best wide receiver Ohio State has ever produced, and that is saying a lot since many of them are currently thriving in the NFL.
