The Florida Gators (52-15) face the TCU Horned Frogs (44-23) in the semifinal round of the 2023 Men’s College World Series. Florida is a -200 favorite at BetMGM Sportsbook and growing at many books while TCU is a +185 underdog at Caesars Sportsbook. The game begins Wednesday, June 21 at 2 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on ESPN. College World Series odds line Florida as the second favorite (+185) and TCU as the longest shot (+1400) among the remaining four teams. Below, we dive into Florida vs. TCU odds at the best sports betting sites.

College World Series: Florida Vs. TCU Odds

The Final Four

It’s been a hell of an academic year for TCU, who put their football team in the National Championship, their men’s basketball team in the Sweet 16, and now are one of just four teams standing in Omaha. But, like in the two previous iterations, the Horned Frogs are staring down a buzzsaw.

The Gators have won seven straight, but three of their last four came by a single run. In their last outing against Oral Roberts, Florida hit three home runs, which accounted for all five runs scored in that game. Against Virginia, another three homers accounted for three of their six runs. To say the Gators only rely on the long ball to score would be incorrect, but a lot of their runs this postseason have come by home runs.

Given the breeze out of center field again, expect this to be a lower-scoring game. Initial run totals opened at 11.5, but those were knocked down to 10.5 almost across the board.

Cole Fontenelle continues his postseason tear, batting over .600 since the Super Regionals began. The junior transfer extended his RBI streak to nine games in a 6-1 victory over ORU on Tuesday. However, the top of the TCU batting lineup has struggled lately. All American Brayden Taylor and Fayetteville Regional MVP Tre Richardson have hit a drought in Omaha. Against a lineup with as much power as Florida, the first three batters in the lineup have to reach base more often.

Omaha Weather

Weather forecasts for Omaha, Neb., call for highs near 93º with no chance of precipitation. However, a stiff breeze continues to blow straight away from center field, with speeds near or above 10 mph expected.

Projected Starting Pitchers

Tuesday’s ESPN broadcast confirmed that two-way freshman Jac Caglianone will take the mound for Florida. TCU may not announce their starter until closer to game time, but we can speculate on who it may be.

  • Florida: Jac Caglianone (7-3, 3.78 ERA, 5.51 FIP)
  • TCU: Kole Klecker (10-4, 3.73 ERA, 6.12 FIP)

While the Gators get one of their top arms on the mound, they lose their best power hitter at the plate. Caglianone leads Florida starters in ERA (3.78) and holds the UF program record for home runs in a season (31). The freshman last pitched in the opening game of the Gainesville Regional, where he threw six scoreless innings and rung up seven against Florida A&M. In his previous start against Vanderbilt in the SEC Tournament, Caglianone picked up a loss after allowing six runs in just 1.2 innings of work.

Klecker rushes back with four days rest for TCU. Given the win-or-go-home situation the Frogs are in, four days will have to do. The freshman is TCU’s top pitcher and emerged as an ace early on in the season.

Florida Vs. TCU Odds Analysis

Market correction quickly got to Florida, who opened at -160 at DraftKings Sportsbook. By mid-morning Wednesday, the Gators skyrocketed to as high as -225 in some spots. In conjunction, an opening run total of 11.5 also was bet down to 10 across the board. After yesterday’s LSU/Tennessee match had a couple home run balls knocked down due to wind, it’s clear the market was privy to the weather’s effects.

Starting Caglianone on the mound means Florida isn’t looking to push this series into Thursday. However, TCU plays their best ball in dire situations, demonstrated by their late-season improvement and run through the postseason thus far. Windy conditions and a difficult ballpark to hit home runs in also hinder Florida’s power at the plate. Because of that, I bet TCU +164 at Caesars Sportsbook.

Klecker on the mound gives the Frogs their best shot at winning this game. Unfortunately, they don’t have another ace loaded for action Thursday. I’ll take TCU in the desperate spot. If you were able to grab Under 11.5 (-110) when it opened, that’s another good play. I don’t foresee the total rising back up from its 10 spot.
