Georgia vs. Ole Miss Prediction, Odds & Picks for Nov. 7: Rebels’ Win Streak Rolls On

The Georgia Bulldogs appeared to be back on top of the college football world when they bested Florida. But in this topsy-turvy season, there’s been no such thing as momentum, And now Georgia gets a highly motivated Ole Miss Rebels squad that has to stay in the race for the playoff. Mississippi beat Georgia a year ago in the game that meant the most, the College Football Playoff quarterfinal. And the Rebels have been at their best when they’ve gotten to play on their home turf, exactly where they are now. We explain our Georgia vs. Ole Miss prediction, review the odds of this SEC contest and offer our picks for this game.
Was Georgia’s last time out a return to normalcy, or a blip on the radar? It’s tough to get a read on anyone this year, but Georgia’s rout of Florida seemed to be the kind of statement that Kirby Smart’s teams are known for making at this point in the season. The Dawgs controlled the line of scrimmage, as they often do, and punished their rival from beginning to end.
But Florida has been helpless against Georgia in recent years, going just 1-9 in their past 10 meetings with the Bulldogs. Ole Miss has been another matter. The Rebels ended the Dawgs’ season last year, and manhandled Georgia the last time the Dawgs made the trip to Oxford.
Mississippi has done that to every guest they’ve seen at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium this year. The Rebels come in having won 16 in a row in Oxford, and they just blasted the Auburn team that gave Georgia its only loss of the year. They’ve also got a lot of motivation; a third loss likely ends their chances.
Georgia vs. Ole Miss Odds
The public believes that the line is pretty close to accurate. It dropped from -4.5 to -3.5, and it hasn’t budged since, as 61% of tickets have come in on the Bulldogs. That says that sharp money moved on Ole Miss at the start of the week, but has since been balanced out as the line settles on one side of the number.
Ole Miss has won two of three against Georgia, including on a neutral field last season. The teams have gone back and forth in holding serve at home, although they hadn’t played each other all that often until the past three seasons.
Here’s a breakdown of the lines, with the best odds coming at DraftKings.
- Spread: Georgia -3.5 (-112) / Ole Miss +3.5 (-108)
- Moneyline: Georgia (-175) / Ole Miss (+145)
- Total (Over/Under): Over 56.5 (-110) / Under 56.5 (-110)
These numbers indicate expectations for a higher-scoring game. Georgia tends to play lower-scoring contests, while Ole Miss is far more offense-oriented. The winning team has scored at least 28 points in five straight matchups between the teams. The oddsmakers believe Georgia is about 6.5 points better than Ole Miss on a neutral field. The implied probability of this game says Ole Miss has a 40.8% chance to win the game. That’s better than expected for home underdogs, if you’re betting the moneyline.

- Georgia is 2-0 ATS in SEC road games this year.
- Georgia is 4-8 ATS in its past 12 SEC games as a road favorite.
- The Bulldogs have not won in Oxford since 2011.
- The over is 3-1 in the teams’ past four meetings.
Georgia’s ground game did the work against Florida. Gunner Stockton’s job in that game was simply to not lose it, and he did that successfully by limiting risks. The Dawgs instead rushed for 217 yards behind Nate Frazier and Dwight Phillips.
While that worked against Florida, it also underscores a weakness in the Georgia attack. Stockton is the kind of quarterback who can be forced into mistakes if he has to do too much. If the Bulldogs get stopped on the ground, which happened against Auburn, they become much easier to handle.
And that’s a worry in this game, because few teams have been able to run the ball in Oxford. LSU did it, but the Tigers play a riskier style of offense than Georgia. The Bulldogs aren’t going to ask Stockton to take chances to open the ground game, which means the Rebels can key in on that part of Georgia’s attack. If the Bulldogs can’t win that battle, this becomes a much tougher task.
Ole Miss Betting Trends
- Ole Miss is 3-0 ATS in SEC home games.
- The home team is 5-1 ATS in Ole Miss’ SEC games this year.
- The home team has covered three straight in this series.
- The Rebels are 5-0 ATS in their past five games as a home underdog.
Ole Miss has simply been a different team in Oxford. Only LSU managed to stay within single digits of the Rebels at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, and that includes a total dismantling of Auburn. The Tigers had beaten Georgia and lost by 10 to Tennessee on the road, but they couldn’t stay within 30 of the Rebels.
That said, the Rebels are not at full strength. They still don’t have Kewan Lacy, which limits the effectiveness of the ground game. Ole Miss can still move the ball on the ground, as it showed by handing the ball to Shekai Mills-Knight. It also has the best player on the field in Trinidad Chambliss.
Only once this year has Chambliss not thrown for multiple touchdowns. That was the loss to Florida, in which the Rebels still had their minds on LSU. When he’s at home, he’s been in control of the offense and able to sit back and attack. That’s going to be harder against Georgia, but the Rebels have shown they can handle that on their turf.
Georgia vs. Ole Miss Prediction: Ole Miss +3.5 (-108)
Kirby Smart has just eight defeats in his past five-plus seasons in Athens. Seven of them have come against teams from Alabama and Mississippi. The old SEC West has proven frustrating for the Bulldogs, who had only seen the Crimson Tide and the Rebels beat them in league play until this year’s loss to Auburn.
When Smart does take a defeat, it’s usually on the road against one of those teams. He did manage to solve the Crimson Tide this season, but Alabama hasn’t quite been itself at home this year. Mississippi has, and the Rebels appear to be focused and motivated after last week. They’re catching points at home, and that’s always dangerous.
More Georgia vs. Ole Miss Picks, Props and Best Bets – Chambliss Can’t Be Stopped
- Trinidad Chambliss Over 260.5 Passing Yards: (-112, FanDuel) – The Rebels need a big game from Chambliss to have a chance to win. They usually get it when they’re at home. With the run game less than full strength, Chambliss will need to make plays happen from beginning to end. That tends to be what he does best.
- Over 56.5: (-110, BetMGM) – Even though the Georgia defense has looked better in recent weeks, it hasn’t faced a consistent offense like what Ole Miss brings to the table. Florida and Alabama have both swung wildly with their outputs, while the Rebels have scored 27 or more every week. Unless Georgia locks down or doesn’t do its part, this number should hit.
- Nate Frazier Under 51.5 Rushing Yards: (-115, BetMGM) – Frazier’s outburst against Florida seems more of a one-off than a breakout showing. He didn’t do anything against Auburn and barely touched the football against Vanderbilt. Given how the Rebels have slowed down other opponents’ ground games in Oxford, don’t look for a lot here.
