College Football Parlay Picks Today: Defenses Dominate in November

As the calendar turns to the college football season’s final full month, defenses tend to become a great choice for college football parlay picks. Some of that has to do with coaching, some has to do with injuries and others with familiarity with conference opponents. All of them, however, favor the defense.
These matchups feature some solid defenses as well as some offenses that haven’t always been at their best. All odds come from FanDuel.
H2 – College Football Parlay Picks for Nov. 7
With two months worth of evidence available, we’ve got a good handle on who these teams are now. For example, we know Duke is going to try to run the ball down the other team’s throat. LSU is going to take a lot of chances, with a high-risk, high-reward mentality governing the Tigers’ attack. And Oregon has just been trying to survive without Dante Moore under center.
You’ll find odds for this parlay play at +2414 at FanDuel for Week 10 college football action.

Play $10, Get $50 H3 – Texas vs. Missouri: Under 42.5 (-112)
The wheels have come off the Arch Manning hype train. It’s clear that he’s not the guy to get the job done at Texas, and the Longhorns are going to have a new quarterback next season. But they have to get to next season first, and for the time being, they’ll muddle through with Manning.
Texas has virtually no ground game to speak of and Manning has thrown for 220 yards or less in four of his past five games. Missouri plays a much stronger brand of football at home, and the Tigers can move the ball on the ground. Jamal Roberts leads the nation in carries and ranks third in the country in yardage.
The public has certainly turned against Manning and Texas. The total has dropped nine points since this bet went on the board. It’s still offering value at 42.5, although some bettors might prefer to take a couple extra points and sacrifice some of the payout. Bettors could bet this as high as Under 45.5 points and still keep the parlay payout above +2000.
Parlay Pick 1: Texas-Missouri Under 42.5 (-112, FanDuel)
H3 – Duke vs. NC State: Duke -4.5
This line is as close as it is because of the rivalry. But Duke’s combination of running the football and solid defense should overwhelm NC State, which has mostly looked lost this season. The Wolfpack did look better last week, but that probably has more to do with getting to play California, which has been wiped out three games in a row.
Duke offers a much sterner test than the Golden Bears. Nate Sheppard has proven to be one of the best backs in the ACC, and Duke has the kind of defense that can get to C.J. Bailey and force bad decisions.
These teams have a common opponent in Virginia, and the way they handled the Cavaliers should tell a lot about this game. Duke was able to win the battle at the line and wear down Virginia’s defense; State was under siege from the Cavaliers from the opening minute and never got going. The Blue Devils are the team playing with enthusiasm, and they should be the pick on the road. The public certainly thinks so; 66% of tickets have come in on the Blue Devils.
Parlay Pick 2: Duke -4.5 (-110, FanDuel)
H3 – BYU vs. Utah: Under 49.5
The 10 a.m. local start might lead to some early morning struggles for the offenses. So might the fact that Devon Dampier hasn’t quite seen a defense like this one. Utah comes in with an 8-0 record, but it’s a soft 8-0 that’s come mostly against the weakest teams in the Big 12. The Utes haven’t faced a real challenge yet, and that’s exactly what their biggest rival offers.
BYU excels at not trying to do too much. Bear Bachmeier doesn’t have the flashiest numbers, but he has shown a tendency to take what the defense gives. He’s thrown for fewer than 250 yards in three of the Cougars’ past five games, but BYU won all of them anyway. The Cougars are a disciplined outfit, which is why they’re 7-1 with a win over Notre Dame.
The Holy War also tends to be a tight affair anyway. In six of the past seven meetings between BYU and Utah, the teams have combined for 46 points or fewer. Utah hasn’t scored more than 21 points in any of their past three meetings with BYU, all Cougar victories. The public expects the over to cash, but the total has dropped two points, which says that the sharps are on the under.
Parlay Pick 3: BYU-Utah Under 49.5 (-110, FanDuel)
H3 – Oregon vs. Ohio State: Under 45.5
This is not a typical Oregon team. The Ducks were expected to be a contender for the national championship this year, but without Dante Moore, they can’t get out of their own way on offense. Oregon quarterback Dylan Raiola has played well at times, but more often, he’s struggled to generate much of anything. In three of their past four games, the Ducks have scored 17 points or fewer.
This game will likely make it four. Ohio State still has a solid defense, even if it didn’t show up last week against USC. However, that had more to do with the Buckeyes feeling the pressure from their own offense’s struggles. Of USC’s touchdowns, one came after a fumble and one came after a penalty on a punt set the Trojans up 31 yards away from paydirt.
Those issues aren’t likely to show up in Columbus. Ohio State should be able to handle things on defense against the wounded Ducks. The offense is another matter, as Ohio State looked off against a USC squad that hadn’t been able to stop anyone, Oregon included. The Trojans were the ones who knocked out Moore, but Oregon still dropped 41 points on them because of SC’s issues on that side of the ball. For Ohio State to put up just 18 points says that the Buckeyes don’t have things figured out without Julian Sayin.
The public has bet this line down seven points. It’s clear where they think this is headed.
Parlay Pick 4: Oregon-Ohio State Under 45.5 (-110, FanDuel)
H3 – Alabama vs. LSU: Alabama +6
Alabama has been inconsistent when it’s gone on the road. The Crimson Tide were pretty listless in facing Tennessee in Knoxville, going down to a 26-10 defeat. But LSU takes far more chances than Tennessee does, and that should open things up for the Crimson Tide to face short fields.
The Bayou Bengals are at their best when they hit the big plays. That works against a team that can’t hit back, such as Texas A&M or Mississippi State. But Alabama’s offense can battle back, and when the Tigers do make a mistake, Alabama can make them pay.
The Tide has the ability to make things quickly snowball. That works well with keeping the game within a spread like this.
Parlay Pick 5: Alabama +6 (-112, FanDuel)
