Impact Injuries On College Football Week 9 Odds

All kick times below are listed in ET.

Washington at No. 13 Indiana, Saturday (12:00 p.m., Big Ten Network)

Indiana QB Kurtis Rourke is out for this game and for an “indefinite period” following. Rourke leads the FBS in passer rating and watched his Heisman odds drop over the last couple weeks. This season, the Ohio transfer has 1,947 passing yards, 15 touchdowns, and three interceptions while completing over 74% of his passes. Indiana, who is 6-1 ATS this year, opened a -7.5 favorite but dipped to -6.5 over Washington. The Hoosiers host College Game Day for the first time.

Georgia Tech at Virginia Tech, Saturday (12:00 p.m., ACC Network)

Georgia Tech was without two key players in Week 8 – starting QB Haynes King and star linebacker Kyle Efford. King was a late-week inactive while Efford was scratched on game day. Without them, the Yellow Jackets scored just 13 and surrendered 31 points against Notre Dame. King will not play in Week 9.

No. 21 Missouri at No. 15 Alabama, Saturday (3:30 p.m., ABC)

Missouri QB Brady Cook left the Tigers’ Week 8 game against Auburn and was admitted to the hospital, but did return to the game. He was quoted citing how few games he has left in a Mizzou uniform, and he wouldn’t be spending any of the games in a hospital. Watch for his status, although he appears to be good to go on Saturday. Running back Nate Noel left Week 7 and did not play in Week 8.

Bowling Green at Toledo, Saturday (7:30 p.m., ESPN+)

Toledo starting QB Tucker Gleason exited the Rockets’ Week 7 game against Buffalo and did not play in their Week 8 game against NIU. Without him on the field, Toledo failed to score again in the Buffalo game and found the end zone just once in a 13-7 win over NIU. The Rockets host arch-rival Bowling Green in the Battle of I-75 on Saturday. Also notable, Toledo has been without starting corner Andre Fuller all season.

West Virginia at Arizona, Saturday (7:00 p.m., FS1)

QB Garrett Greene and co-RB1 Jaheim White both left West Virginia’s Week 8 loss to Kansas State and did not return. Both left late in the game–Greene played 50 snaps while White played 21–and their statuses should be monitored moving forward. WVU opened a +1 underdog at Arizona but moved to +3 by Monday morning.

There’s still no word on RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt’s eligibility status. The transfer played in Arizona’s Week 1 game but was flagged for eligibility after and has not played since.

Utah at Houston, Saturday (7:00 p.m., ESPN+)

Yet again, injuries pile up for Utah. QB Cam Rising was declared out for the season last week, marking his second straight year with a season-ending injury designation. Further, starting running back Micah Bernard left the Utes’ Week 7 loss to TCU and did not return. Starting defensive end Connor O’Toole hasn’t suited up since Week 3, and corner Kenan Johnson suffered a season-ending injury in Week 1. Watch for other potential absences this weekend.

Other Roster & Staff Impacts on College Football Week 9 Odds

Oklahoma at No. 18 Ole Miss, Saturday (12:00 p.m., ESPN)

Oklahoma fired offensive coordinator Seth Littrell ahead of its Week 9 game at Ole Miss. The Sooners combined for 12 total points in the last two games against Texas and South Carolina and fell from eighth in points per drive last year to 111th this year. OU’s offense has not scored 21 points on a Power Conference foe this year, needing a pick-six to score 27 against Auburn in Week 5.

Temple at East Carolina, Saturday (2:00 p.m., ESPN+)

East Carolina made the first move of the season, firing head coach Mike Houston. The Pirates began this year 3-4 with two wins over FBS foes (Old Dominion, UTSA) but were generally not competitive in the last two games against Charlotte (lost 55-24) and Army (lost 45-28). ECU will be the first team to conduct a head coaching search. Defensive coordinator Blake Harrell serves as interim head coach.

No. 11 BYU at UCF, Saturday (3:30 p.m., ESPN)

UCF benched QB K.J. Jefferson following a 24-13 loss to Florida. In two games under Jacurri Brown, UCF scored 13 points – in a hurricane-interrupted week – and 35 points, nearly knocking off Iowa State in Week 8. Brown threw no touchdowns and a pair of interceptions while going 9-for-20 with 62 passing yards in the effort.

Oklahoma State at Baylor, Saturday (3:30 p.m., ESPN+)

Baylor benched transfer QB Dequan Finn in favor of Sawyer Robertson, even though Finn is now available after an injury. Under the Toledo transfer, Baylor scored just 12 points against Utah; under Robertson, the Bears average 34 points per game. Finn has been shown to come in for situational and short-yardage spots, primarily as a runner.

Southern Miss at James Madison, Saturday (3:30 p.m., ESPN+)

Southern Miss fired head coach Will Hall on Sunday after a 14-30 record in Hattiesburg. The Golden Eagles are 0-6 against FBS competition this year, including piling up a -77 point differential in the last four games. Assistant head coach Reed Stringe takes over the program in the meantime.

Utah at Houston, Saturday (7:00 p.m., ESPN+)

Utah offensive coordinator Andy Ludwig stepped down after the Utes’ 13-7 loss in Week 8 to TCU, Kyle Whittingham announced. This year under Ludwig, Utah ranked 112th in points per drive, following up an 88th ranking last year. Though Utah struggled with injuries, it has not scored more than 23 points against a Power Conference foe since November of last year.

Situational Spots To Watch With College Football Week 9 Odds

Louisville at Boston College, Friday (7:30 p.m., ESPN2)

Louisville comes off an emotional loss to Miami – a 52-45 shootout decided on the final drives. The Cardinals won’t return to play a game at L&N Stadium for 35 days, playing three straight road foes. Up next for Louisville is a date at Clemson where the Tigers come off a bye week. The Cards need to get off a slide where they’ve lost three games in the last four weeks and try to do so in Chestnut Hill, a place they haven’t won at the last three tries (since 2016).

Georgia Tech at Virginia Tech, Saturday (12:00 p.m., ACC Network)

Under Brent Key, Georgia Tech is 9-2 ATS coming off a loss. Last week, the Yellow Jackets fell to Notre Dame, 31-13, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. To continue this streak, Georgia Tech fights an uphill battle as starting QB Haynes King won’t play in the game. Virginia Tech is beginning to round into form expected in the preseason with back-to-back dominant wins following a near-upset of Miami.

Nebraska at No. 4 Ohio State, Saturday (12:00 p.m., FOX)

Matt Rhule carries an abysmal 2-21 outright record against ranked competition, including 0-2 this year. That record comes at three different stops: Temple, Baylor, and Nebraska – the latter two possessing the resources to beat ranked teams. Last week, Nebraska was throttled on the road at Indiana, 56-7. Ohio State is the second straight road opponent for Nebraska and is the second of four straight foes coming off a bye week for the Huskers.

Maryland at Minnesota, Saturday (3:30 p.m., FS1)

Maryland comes off a big, emotional win over USC, scoring a touchdown with less than a minute left to secure the 29-28 win. The Terps hit the road to play a well-rested Minnesota team coming off a bye week. Maryland struggles with more physical teams, having lost to Michigan State, Indiana, and Northwestern already. P.J. Fleck is 10-3 straight up coming off a bye with Minnesota.

Watch for teams ready to mail in the final few weeks of the season due to failing to meet expectations, widespread injuries, coaching changes, or more: UAB, Troy, Purdue, Florida State, East Carolina, Oklahoma, Tulsa, Southern Miss.

Best of luck betting college football Week 9 odds!
