College Football Week 6 Best Bets, Picks & Odds: Favorites, Underdogs and Value Spots
The college football season has moved past the early chaos of September and into the heart of conference play, which means the board is starting to settle. Teams now have enough of a sample size to reveal who they really are, and bettors can lean on more reliable data points to make sharper decisions.
That doesn’t mean the market is perfect. Oddsmakers are adjusting quickly, and sometimes they overreact, creating opportunity. This is where college football Week 6 best bets come into play, with value hidden in overlooked matchups and inflated lines.
When breaking down the Week 6 college football odds, there are several games that stick out as great value bets. By isolating spots where the college football betting lines leave too much room for underdogs or undervalued teams, bettors can get ahead of the market.
With that in mind, here are four Week 6 college football picks and why the matchups provide an edge today.
Iowa State (-3.5) vs Cincinnati
Odds: -110 (via BetMGM)
The Cyclones have been one of the more consistent programs in the Big 12 when it comes to playing sound defense and avoiding costly mistakes. That’s why they’re 5-0 entering today and a top-15 team in the country.
Cincinnati has certainly shown flashes of greatness this season, but hasn’t really proven it's a team that could win the conference. Not only do I think the Cyclones win this one, but I think they cover the spread as well, remaining undefeated on the season.

Odds: +210 (via Bet365)
Sure, Boston College is 1-3 on the season, but two of their three losses were in close contests that came within a combined six points. The Eagles are better than their record, and this is shaping up to be an upset game.
Pittsburgh has only won games against significantly inferior opponents this season, and I’m not buying their performance against the only two decent teams the Panthers have played, as both ended in losses. At these odds, this is a great spot to be riding with Boston College.
Syracuse (+17.5) vs SMU
Odds: -115 (via BetMGM)
Syracuse was blown out last week by Duke, in a game that was supposed to be close. There’s no question that the Orange have been inconsistent all season, but when they’re on, there’s a lot to like about this football team.
SMU is also a quality opponent who is clearly being respected by oddsmakers with this 17.5-point spread, but the Mustangs aren’t that much better than Syracuse. Part of me wants to take the Orange as an outright money line pick here, but the spread feels like a lock and a safer bet.
Up To $1500 in Bonus Bets Paid Back if your First Bet Does Not Win Virginia (ML) vs Louisville
Odds: +210 (via Caesars Sportsbook)
Virginia has been a scrappy underdog all season, and this is another spot where the Cavaliers can punch above their weight. The Cavaliers upset Florida State last week in a down-to-the-wire contest, which landed them in the Top 25 this week.
Louisville has talent, but it has also shown vulnerabilities in each of its four wins this season. Not to mention, three of the Cardinals' four games have come against teams that are significantly inferior opponents. Taking a ranked team as a +210 underdog against an unranked team that hasn’t played anyone of note is too good not to capitalize on.
As Week 6 of College Football kicks off, bettors should remember that college football is as much about momentum and situational spots as it is about raw talent. Injuries and home-field advantage can swing games, but the bigger edge often comes from perception lagging behind reality.
These Week 6 college football picks highlight where the college football betting lines haven’t quite adjusted, especially for Week 6 underdogs that carry real upset potential.
Ultimately, finding the right college football predictions is about exploiting market inefficiencies, and Week 6 offers plenty of those.
