Georgia Tech at Clemson, 12:00 p.m. ET
At 4-4, Clemson needed a win. They brought in ranked Notre Dame and thrillingly secured that win and have a couple more statement games on the season against North Carolina and South Carolina. But before they get to those high-profile games, they have to go through Georgia Tech. Although this game is in Death Valley, the supercharged atmosphere of last week likely isn’t repeatable. The Yellow Jackets come in on a two-game win streak, including an upset over North Carolina. Georgia Tech is the ultimate better-than-you-think team at this juncture of the season.
As Dabo Swinney emphatically yelled at the world, it’s apparently time to buy stock in Clemson. So, I’ll be doing the exact opposite this week in both a letdown and look-ahead spot for the Tigers.
Stanford at Oregon State, 5:30 p.m. ET
Oregon State returns home after back-to-back road games at Arizona and Colorado – games they split with both being one-score finishes. The Beavers are technically still in the Pac-12 Championship race, with Washington and Oregon following this matchup. But in order to get there, they must first go through Stanford. Typically, this would be a game where Jonathan Smith and company take care of business, but with such a colossal duo of opponents prominent in the window, there may be a look-ahead spot here.
Stanford can score at times. At the very least, they have the capability. Last week, they beat a free-falling Washington State team on the road. They scored 33 on Washington the week prior. Although incredibly inconsistent, Stanford has been frisky at times. Hanging 21 total points allows the Cardinal passing attack to sneak in the back door.
Air Force at Hawaii, 11:00 p.m. ET
Should Air Force have won last week, this would be an even juicier upset candidate. Regardless, the scheduling conflict still stands. The Falcons have played four straight games away from home (last week was a neutral-site in Denver). Two of their last three games came against rival service academies; potential body blow games that soften even Air Force up for this trip. To close out the season, Air Force has a critical Mountain West stretch against UNLV and a trip to Boise State, games that will alter the landscape of the conference title game.
The flight to Honolulu is long, even if a team has taken it multiple times. This is not a Hawaii outright pick, but they get the pickle jar after someone attempted to open the lid.

Bonus College Football Upset Alert: Holy Cross at Army, 12:00 p.m. ET
Sportsbooks will release Holy Cross at Army odds later in the week.
The reason this game falls in a “bonus” category is because we don’t have odds for it yet. Likely, this is a one-score spread (TheLines aggregate power ratings favor Army by just -1.5 at home). However, it’s a terrific spot for the FCS Crusaders, who are far above average as an FCS program goes. Army comes off their huge upset win over Air Force as 17-point underdogs and flies back across the country to host Holy Cross, who has been playing regionally in Patriot League play. Keep an eye on this number to open too long, as HC has lost three of their last five games.
