Oregon Vs. Ohio State Odds
FanDuel Sportsbook released CFP hypothetical odds well ahead of the first-round matchups. It lined Oregon as a -1.5 favorite over Ohio State with an over/under set at 53.5 points.
We’ve seen this one before. In Week 7, Ohio State and Oregon dueled to a 32-31 finish in Autzen Stadium, a game in which the Ducks prevailed. The Buckeyes had a chance to win the game late, but Will Howard slid, seemingly unaware time had run out. Those 32 points were the most Ohio State allowed in a game all season (second-most: 17). Now, these two Big Ten heavyweights square off in a rematch in the iconic Rose Bowl.
Ohio State has the third-most Rose Bowl appearances ever (16), while Oregon checks in with eight. This is a rematch of the 2010 Rose Bowl game, where Ohio State beat Oregon (led by Ohio State OC Chip Kelly), 26-17.
It was a different Buckeyes team in Round 1 against Tennessee, particularly on offense. Howard moved the ball through the air at will, finding freshman phenom Jeremiah Smith for two touchdowns. After taking a 21-0 lead, the Buckeyes never looked back, winning 42-17. The last time we saw Oregon, the Ducks hung 45 on Penn State, winning the Big Ten title in their first year in the conference. QB Dillon Gabriel finished third in Heisman Trophy voting.
The winner of this game will advance to the Cotton Bowl to play the winner of Georgia vs. Notre Dame.
