Michigan vs. UConn Prediction, Odds & Picks for Nov. 6: Nik Khamenia Explodes
The No. 16 Michigan Wolverines and No. 4 UConn Huskies will face off in a neutral-site matchup at the TD Garden in Boston, Mass. Our Michigan vs. UConn prediction covers odds, betting trends, and best bets for Friday’s college basketball matchup.
The Wolverines enter this game with a 1-0 record after beating Oakland in their opening contest. They were projected to finish third in the Big Ten in the preseason.
The Huskies are 1-0 after a 40-point win against Gardner-Webb to start their season. They were picked to win the Big East throughout the offseason.

The Wolverines lost a few key players from last season, but they also returned plenty of production. Elliott Cadeau, Trey McKenney, and Roddy Gayle played significant roles in 2025-26, while Oscar Goodman is returning to a bigger role. They also added JP Estrella, Moustapha Thiam, and Jalen Reed via the transfer portal, while Quinn Costello is coming in as a freshman. Here are some trends for Michigan:
- The Wolverines are 1-0 straight up and 0-1 ATS this season.
- The Over is 0-1 in Michigan games in 2026-27.
- The Wolverines failed to cover by 11.5 points against Oakland.
- The Under hit by 5.5 points.
McKenney and Cadeau each played over 30 minutes against Oakland. Gayle, Estrella, and Goodman rounded out the starters with Thiam out, but he’s expected to be back against UConn. Costello quietly posted a 32.2% shot rate off the bench, but he’ll see a reduced role with Thiam healthy.
Michigan attacked the basket well against inferior competition. They dominated at the rim, including offensive rebounds. They also didn’t turn the ball over. The obvious concern for the Wolverines was shooting only 20.6% from deep against Oakland.
UConn Huskies Betting Trends
The Huskies lost Tarris Reed and Alex Karaban to the NBA, but Silas Demary, Braylon Mullins, and Jayden Ross all return. They brought in Na’jai Hines, Nik Khamenia, Nils Machowski, and Oskar Giltay from the transfer portal. They’ll also have several freshmen who will make an impact for them this season. Here are some trends for UConn:
- The Huskies are 1-0 straight up and 0-1 ATS this season.
- The Over is 0-1 in UConn games in 2026-27.
- UConn lost the spread by 1.5 points against Gardner-Webb.
- The Under hit by 15.5 points.
Mullins and Khamenia were the clear focal points of the offense in the first game. They saw 32% and 28.6% shot rates, respectively. Demary is running the offense, while Hines boasts elite rebounding and block potential. Ross rounds out the starters as the glue guy.
The Huskies dominated Gardner-Webb, but there were some issues in their offense. They shot only 31% from deep and 62.5% from the line. These aren’t issues against inferior competition, but they could play a factor against a team like Michigan. There’s no reason to overreact to one game, though.
Michigan vs. UConn Prediction: Nik Khamenia Over 19.5 PRA
Nik Khamenia over 19.5 points, rebounds, and assists is my favorite Michigan vs. UConn prediction.
Khamenia was a five-star recruit for Duke, but he saw limited playing time as a freshman. He performed well, but he opted to transfer to UConn, where he’d be in line for a bigger role in his sophomore season.
The transfer performed well in the Huskies' exhibition games, although Braylon Mullins only played in one of those games. Overall, he averaged 13.0 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in 29.3 minutes per game. He posted 20 or more PRA in each of those three games.
Khamenia only played 26 minutes in a blowout win over Gardner-Webb. He posted an outstanding 28.2% shot rate, though, as he’s a focal point of the offense with Mullins. This is a tough matchup, but we’re getting a discount on an extremely talented forward.
Best Bet: Nik Khamenia Over 19.5 PRA (-110 @ DraftKings Sportsbook)
More Michigan vs. UConn Picks, Props and Best Bets
Here are a few more Michigan vs. UConn odds and betting angles to consider:
- UConn -7.5 Spread (-108 @ DraftKings Sportsbook) - The Huskies dominated their exhibition games, beating each of Purdue, Michigan State, and Syracuse by eight or more points. The Wolverines haven’t gelled as quickly, getting blown out by Houston and beating Oregon State by five points. I trust UConn’s continuity at this point.
- Michigan/UConn Under 141.5 Points (-108 @ DraftKings Sportsbook) - This game should play more similar to March Madness than an early-season game. Teams are still gelling offensively, but both should flash plenty of defensive intensity.
- JP Estrella Over 9.5 Points (+115 @ DraftKings Sportsbook) - Estrella isn’t a volume player on offense, but he consistently finds shots at the rim, allowing him to score with efficiency. He should continue that trend in this game, even with Moustapha Thiam back in the lineup.
