Northwestern Washington Odds

Although kickoff is around the corner for Super Bowl 59 odds, there are plenty of college basketball odds to sift through this weekend. In this column, I’ll highlight two Big Ten situational spots, attempting to uncover circumstances in which teams tend to exceed or fall short of their usual performance level — relative to the moneyline or point spread. Let’s handicap the odds for No. 24 Michigan at Indiana at Northwestern at Washington, including options for your same-game parlays on Saturday.

College Basketball Best Bet: Hoosiers ATS

I’m putting my money behind Mike Woodson’s retirement party for the first of two plug-your-nose wagers. On Thursday, the program announced Woodson will step down come season’s end, paving the way for one last run after Indiana dropped six of its previous seven games.

Under Woodson, the Hoosiers utilize an archaic offense, with their mid-range attempt rate in the 86th percentile (per CBB Analytics). Still, Myles Rice and Co. should find success against the Wolverines’ drop coverage, which provides a bevy of open looks from this vicinity.

Michigan has also benefited from a soft schedule lately. Most recently, they upended a dwindling Penn State squad before defeating Rutgers with star freshman Dylan Harper sidelined. On Wednesday, they narrowly edged Oregon, which has lost five of its last six contests.

Granted, Indiana is in a similar boat. However, given that its NCAA tournament hopes are on the line, I expect it to play with an edge.

Moreover, the Wolverines are 0-5 against the spread (ATS) in their last five games. While the betting market has caught up to an extent, they’re on even thinner ice because of their careless play, ranking 336th in turnover rate. These are mainly unforced mistakes that the Hoosiers can take advantage of in transition — another concern for Michigan’s overrated defense.

Final Betting Thoughts

Ahead of Dusty May’s return to Bloomington, Ind., I bet Hoosiers +3.5 (down to +3). You’ll find this on our free sports betting Discord channel. Users can enroll in push notifications by heading to the #roles server. Good luck with bets on your Michigan at Indiana odds!

College Basketball Best Bet: Huskies ML

Ever since Brooks Barnheizer, the Wildcats’ second-leading scorer, underwent season-ending foot surgery earlier this month, I’ve downgraded Northwestern considerably in my college basketball power ratings. Now, there’s reportedly a possibility that point guard Jalen Leach (knee) may also fail to suit up.

Combine this news with Northwestern’s first West Coast trip of the season, and it’s led me to this nauseating wager.

Like Indiana, Washington has lost seven of its last eight contests. Nevertheless, the Huskies’ defensive rebounding prowess matches up well with the Wildcats, ranking 11th in potential quick points scored from the offensive glass versus the average opponent (via Haslametrics).

To boot, 6-foot-8, do-it-all forward Great Osobor should see his fair share of open driving lanes against a team that struggles to guard in isolation. As you’ll see below, I wagered on the Huskies ML (-113) and would play it up to -135.

Good luck with your bets on Northwestern at Washington odds!
