College Basketball Odds & Picks Saturday: Marquette Revenge vs. St. John’s?

With nearly one week until Selection Sunday, college basketball odds have captured the spotlight. I’ll break down situational spots for Saturday’s slate to uncover circumstances in which teams exceed or underperform their usual efficiency level — relative to the moneyline or spread. This column starts with my handicap of the odds for No. 6 St. John’s at No. 20 Marquette, including a few options for your same-game parlays. College Basketball Best Bets: marquette ml
Motivational angles are critical when handicapping the final week of the regular season. The Big East tournament is on deck, and St. John’s has already clinched the top seed at Madison Square Garden. Outside of March Madness positioning, there isn’t much at stake for the Red Storm, which has already ruled out Deivon Smith to rest his injured shoulder.
Conversely, the Golden Eagles hope to avenge their early February loss at St. John’s while avoiding the unappealing four-seed in their conference tournament. There’s a clear situational edge in Marquette’s direction.
During the Johnnies’ five-game winning streak, they showcase a +9.6% net three-point clip. Rick Pitino’s squad is due for some negative shooting variance defensively, and Kam Jones and Co. just endured their worst 3-point output (13.6%) of the year in a six-point loss at UConn.
Although this team is not as efficient from behind the arc as the Tyler Kolek-led Golden Eagles, I anticipate they will rebound in that regard and deliver a critical home victory on Senior Day.

College Basketball Best Bets: Richmond ats?
I’ll wait to see how the market fluctuates before pulling the trigger, but I see value in fading the Patriots, which have failed to cover in their last four games. According to ShotQuality, George Mason has also nabbed the fifth-most record luck across D-I.
Even though the Spiders have lost their previous three matchups, each coming as a double-digit underdog, their low turnover rate will pay dividends against George Mason’s pressure-centric defense, which relies on takeaways. When they overhelp and struggle to accrue them, the opposition often generates quality three-point looks.
Despite Richmond’s woes from downtown (30.9%, 320th nationally), it ranks 88th in perimeter scoring rate. Like Marquette, I expect Chris Mooney’s five-out offense to come out firing and keep this one close on Senior Day. Remember that the Patriots are already locked into the second seed for the A-10 tournament, so they don’t have any stakes riding on the outcome.
