Auburn Ole Miss Odds

Among Saturday’s college basketball odds, I’ve circled two bets on which I have a worthwhile edge. The first pertains to an ACC clash between Pittsburgh and Wake Forest before top-ranked Auburn travels to Oxford to face No. 23 Ole Miss. Only the latter two programs find themselves in my college basketball power rankings. Let’s delve into the odds and my best bets for Pitt at Wake Forest and Auburn at Ole Miss, including options for your same-game parlays.

With ACC play heating up, I’ve circled this contest as a buy-low spot on Wake Forest. If you’re unfamiliar with situational spots, they aim to uncover circumstances in which teams have exceeded or underperformed their usual performance level — relative to the moneyline or point spread.

Steve Forbes’ squad has lost consecutive games against Duke and Louisville, so it cannot afford another defeat on its at-large resume. The Demon Deacons will also want revenge after falling to the Panthers in last year’s ACC tournament.

While both teams struggle on the boards, Wake Forest’s post-up efficiency (65th percentile on a points-per-possession basis) possesses a significant edge against Pitt’s weaker bigs. Look for the 7-foot Efton Reid and 6-foot-7 Tre’Von Spillers to own the paint, opening up the offense for the Deacons’ spotty perimeter shooting.

Wake Forest’s non-conference results aren’t impressive. Inconsistent shooting from its backcourt, comprised of Hunter Sallis and Cameron Hildreth, was a sizeable factor. However, Sallis has broken out over the last five matchups, accruing a 38.5% clip from behind the arc.

On Friday, I wagered 1.25 units on Wake Forest ML (-125), which you will find in our sports betting Discord channel. Users can enroll in push notifications by heading to the #roles server.

Upset Brewing In Oxford?

In a duel of my preseason futures bets, I’ll (reluctantly) fade the No. 1 program in the AP Top 25 poll. That sounds like a sweat-free experience, right?

Probably not. Regardless, I fancy Chris Beard’s no-middle defense against Auburn’s interior-driven offense, guided by Wooden Award candidate Johni Broome. This defensive structure limits dribble penetration and post-up touches, which correlates with the Rebels’ prowess for stymying opponents’ proficiency in the latter category (65th percentile).

To boot, Mississippi’s five-out attack can exploit Auburn’s drop coverage, especially with the less-agile Broome returning to the lineup. Given that Jaemyn Brakefield and Co. have tallied a lowly 32.6% clip from deep in their last four matchups, there’s more reason to buy into a breakout shooting performance for Ole Miss.

Following three losses in their last four games, I anticipate the Rebels will be ultra-motivated in a sold-out Pavillion. The Tigers are also primed for shooting regression in their own right, so I’ll take the points with Beard’s crew.

Situationally, this tilt is akin to Wake Forest vs. Pittsburgh. Brakefield and fellow senior Matthew Murrell, producing 10.8 points per game apiece, have dropped six straight to Bruce Pearl’s Tigers. Good luck with your bets on Auburn at Ole Miss odds!
