Indiana Maryland Odds

On Saturday’s college basketball odds board, I’ve circled a pair of situational spots that I deem to have betting value. My first bet is between No. 8 Michigan State and Rutgers on Saturday afternoon before Indiana hosts Maryland on Sunday. Only the Spartans and Terrapins are in my college basketball power rankings. Let’s handicap the odds and my best bets for these tilts, highlighted by the odds for Maryland at Indiana.

Michigan state at rutgers odds: spread, moneyline, total

Situational Spot Favors Rutgers

Despite Monday’s loss at Penn State, when the Scarlet Knights failed to cover the point spread in the waning seconds, they deserve bettors’ attention. With freshman phenom Dylan Harper (ankle) reportedly healthy, Rutgers remains undervalued in the market. To boot, this game is also an excellent sell-high opportunity with Michigan State after it’s won 11 straight.

Per Synergy, Steve Pickell’s transition defense settles in the 68th percentile on a points-per-possession (PPP) basis. That’s a massive plus against Jeremy Fears and Co., who thrive on pushing the tempo.

Harper and Ace Bailey, another potential top-five selection in the 2025 NBA Draft, must convert on fast-break opportunities in their own right before the Spartans’ robust half-court defense is set. I’ll grab the points in this semi-home contest at Madison Square Garden.

I bet on Rutgers +6 (-110) Friday night. Good luck with your bets on MSU vs. Rutgers odds!

In consecutive matchups, one being because Illinois was without sophomore center Tomislav Ivisic (illness), the Terps’ Derik Queen and Julian Reese had a sizeable edge in the low post. Indiana’s rim-deficient defense settles in the fourth percentile in its last five games (via CBB Analytics).

With Hoosiers forward Malik Reneau back on the court, I don’t trust Mike Woodson to stagger his minutes with center Oumar Ballo against a two-big lineup. For context, Indiana surrendered 19 points (1.58 PPP) with the two playing with one another in Wednesday’s loss at Northwestern. Without the pairing, it allowed 60 points in 66 possessions (0.90 PPP).

All five of Maryland’s losses have come by six points or fewer. Kevin Willard’s team is one of the most undervalued nationally, and I expect Maryland to add another road win — this time at Assembly Hall.

Following the Terps’ blowout victory over the Illini, the spread could be out of range per my raw numbers. In this case, I’ll look for a live wager on them. In the meantime, I’ve even placed a Final Four futures bet on Maryland’s March Madness odds.

Willard’s squad will face Wisconsin and Michigan State, its most formidable remaining opponents, at home. If it takes care of business, that will improve its NCAA tournament seeding and the value of this wager.
