ClutchBet, a sportsbook based in Australia, has begun exploring the US sports betting market, targeting Iowa, Colorado, Maryland, Tennessee and Virginia for potential upcoming launches.

As with other online sportsbooks, ClutchBet is likely to offer a welcome bonus to new players as well as additional promotions for ongoing customers. We’ll review what to expect there, as well as your options for placing bets, what the sportsbook app has to offer and how this stack up against other sportsbook options. When you’re done, you should have a good idea of what to expect from ClutchBet in the US.

ClutchBet sign-up bonus

ClutchBet Sportsbook has not announced what its welcome offer will be. We expect either a risk-free bet or a first deposit match. On the surface, neither offer is better than the other, and the key is how each is structured.

Do I need a bonus code at ClutchBet Sportsbook?

No, you do not need a code for the ClutchBet welcome bonus. Just open a new sports betting account and meet any deposit and wagering requirements.

How the bonus works

We can’t tell you precisely how the ClutchBet bonus for new users will work since the sportsbook has not announced it yet. However, assuming the bonus is for either a risk-free first bet or a first deposit match, we can tell you what to look out for:

  • Risk-free first bet: One key to risk-free bets is understanding that rarely are they truly risk-free. A completely risk-free bonus would mean that you would get your money back in cash if your bet loses. Instead, most sportsbooks offer either a free bet or bonus cash if your opening wager loses. Bonus cash usually is the better offer. That’s because you tend to be able to bet with it more like real money. Also, pay attention to what the playthrough requirements are to release the bonus money. Free bets have some drawbacks, too. The biggest one being that you don’t receive a free bet’s monetary value back if your bet with it wins. Usually, free bets expire within a week or two of the sportsbook issuing them. And some even have odds restrictions, so you might not be able to bet on what you want.
  • Deposit match bonuses: Just as is the case with risk-free bets, deposit matches hardly ever match your deposit in cash. Instead, you typically receive a match in bonus money. Once again, though, you need to check and see what the playthrough requirement is. You also need to check how long you have to release the bonus funds. For example, DraftKings Sportsbook offers a $1,000 deposit match. However, the sportsbook will match only 20% of your deposit, and it comes with a 25x betting requirement. This means to receive the full $1,000, you would need to deposit a minimum of $5,000 and then bet at least $25,000. And you only get 90 days in which to do so. So, if ClutchBet has a deposit match welcome bonus, these are the things you’ll want to pay attention to.

Once ClutchBet announces its welcome bonus, we’ll be able to update this with more details.

ClutchBet VIP loyalty rewards

With most sportsbook rewards programs, you accrue points based on how much money you bet. You can redeem the points for free bets, profit boosts or merchandise at some sportsbooks. Most of the time, you will receive more points for parlays than for straight bets.

Other books offer much more straightforward loyalty programs that operate on a week-to-week basis. For example, you may receive a $10 free bet if you bet at least $50 during the previous week. Just make sure your $50 in bets meet the book’s wagering requirements.

Redeem rewards at retail locations

It appears unlikely that you will be able to redeem ClutchBet Sportsbook reward points at any retail location. If ClutchBet were to open any retail sportsbooks, you might be eligible for complimentary drinks or food, but that most likely would be the extent of the in-person benefits.

Yes, ClutchBet is a safe and legal sportsbook. Keep in mind, though, that ClutchBet is not legal throughout the US. It’s not even legal in all states that have legalized online sports betting. ClutchBet targeted five states to begin with: Colorado, Iowa, Maryland, Virginia and Tennessee.

In all of those states, you have to be a minimum of 21 years old to bet on sports legally. In addition, you must be in one of those states to place any bets. ClutchBet will use geolocation software to track your whereabouts when you use its app or website. You won’t be able to bet if you’re not in a state that has licensed ClutchBet.

ClutchBet Sportsbook app review

The ClutchBet app is available for Android and iOS devices. While it is not currently compatible with iPads, that should not be the case for much longer. To download the app, head to the sportsbook homepage and click either the Android or Apple link. Follow any additional prompts from there to get the app. Here is what you can expect once you’ve installed it:

  • Speed: The speed of any sports betting app is essential, but it becomes extremely consequential if you plan on doing any live betting. Dealing with even minor lag time can prevent you from placing a live wager before the odds change. Just be sure it’s the app and not a poor internet connection causing the problem.
  • Overall performance: There are a few key areas to be conscious of when it comes to the overall performance of an online sportsbook like ClutchBet. We already talked about speed, but the ease of navigating in the app is another crucial area. You’ll want to be able to switch from one sport to another rapidly, especially if creating cross-sport parlays is your thing. A search bar is another key feature. That way, you can find exactly what you’re looking for without having to scroll.
  • Markets: ClutchBet has all the betting markets available in each of the states where it is legal. Each state sets its own rules for what you can and cannot bet on.
  • Live betting: The live betting options at ClutchBet allow you to bet on a variety of events that have already begun. With live betting, you can place traditional bets like moneylines, spreads and over/unders. Additionally, you could bet on what will happen during the next drive in a football game or the next at-bat in a baseball game, for instance.
  • Bet slip: The ClutchBet wagering slip is straightforward to use, even if you are new to sports betting. When you click on a bet, that will add it to your slip. The slip displays what you’re betting on and the odds. Then, once you add your bet stake, it will list that along with what you stand to win. Just be aware that the “Total possible payout” line includes your bet stake being returned to you on a winning bet.
  • General layout: The overall layout of the app is excellent and in line with what you’ll find at other sportsbook apps. Tabs for getting back to the homepage, accessing your bet slip and viewing the current promotions at ClutchBet are available no matter where you go on the app. Finding the sports and games you want to bet on is easy, with clearly labeled headers. You also will want to familiarize yourself with the “My Account” page. From here, you can get to the cashier, change your settings, update your info, contact the ClutchBet help desk and more.
  • Cashier: The banking options at ClutchBet will be important to check. If no deposit or withdrawal options work for you, you probably need to find a different sportsbook. You definitely will be able to make deposits using a credit or debit card. Additional deposit and withdrawal options will likely include some combination of PayPal, Skrill, e-checks, wire transfers and Play+ prepaid cards.

ClutchBet browser review

ClutchBet Sportsbook does a good job of making its website and app similar enough so that transitioning between the two should not cause you any headaches. If you plan on accessing ClutchBet via only one method, this isn’t of any importance. However, we expect many of you will be using both the app and website depending on where and when you are accessing them.

Overall ClutchBet user experience

The user experience at ClutchBet is solid, and while there are no major pitfalls, there is also nothing super distinct about ClutchBet. One of the areas we’re most interested in watching is how ClutchBet attempts to attract customers. With established sportsbooks like DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, Caesars and PointsBet in many of the same states, ClutchBet will need to get creative if it hopes to lure people to sign up with a newcomer.

ClutchBet Sportsbook: Creating a new account

To open a new account at ClutchBet, all you have to do is submit a few personal details. Just head to the sportsbook page and select the sign-up option. At that point, you’ll need to provide the following details:

  • Name
  • Email
  • Phone number
  • Address
  • Birthdate
  • Social Security number (last four digits)

You also will need to create a username and password, and agree to ClutchBet’s terms and conditions. From beginning to end, the process will take just a minute or two.

How does ClutchBet benefit casual bettors?

The most significant advantage to casual bettors at ClutchBet is simply placing bets — especially the straightforward bets like moneylines, spreads and totals — quickly. If all you’re looking for from a sportsbook is the ability to bet on your favorite team throughout the year, then ClutchBet more than has you covered.

How does ClutchBet benefit experienced bettors?

Experienced bettors will benefit from wagering with ClutchBet because of the variety of betting options available. Whether it’s creating intricate round-robin wagers, cross-sport parlays or just a variety of prop bets, you’ll find those options at ClutchBet. Experienced bettors also should like having another sportsbook to use to make sure they’re getting the best odds available for each bet they place.

ClutchBet betting options

At ClutchBet, you’ll find that you can bet on all the top professional and college leagues in both the US and abroad. Locally, ClutchBet offers a plethora of wagering options for the NBA, MLB, NHL, NFL, college football, college basketball, PGA Tour, UFC, NASCAR, MLS, WNBA and more.

When it comes to international betting, soccer is a popular pick, which makes sense since it is the world’s game. Some of the top leagues to bet on are the UCL, EPL, Bundesliga, Serie A, La Liga and the World Cup during the one in every four years when it takes place.

What’s not available at ClutchBet

ClutchBet offers pretty much everything it is able to. The only thing holding it back is each state’s betting regulations. For example, in Virginia, the state rules do not allow betting on Virginia-based college teams. Thus, ClutchBet does not offer wagers on those events. Other than something like that, though, ClutchBet has just about anything you could be looking for.

Odds boosts

ClutchBet has not announced yet whether it will provide daily odds boosts, similar to what you’ll find at Caesars, DraftKings and FanDuel. It does not offer daily boosts at its European sportsbooks, but that’s no guarantee the practice won’t change at its US locations.

ClutchBet pricing

Until ClutchBet launches in one or more states in the US, we can’t determine what its odds and lines look like compared to other oddsmakers. Needless to say, if the odds aren’t competitive, that will be a significant knock against ClutchBet.

How to deposit and withdraw

We expect ClutchBet to offer a variety of banking methods. The most likely options will be credit/debit cards, e-checks, wire transfers, PayPal, Skrill and Play+ prepaid debit cards.

How to contact customer support

At this time, the best options for contacting ClutchBet customer support is by calling the helpline number available on the site or by emailing [email protected] Once ClutchBet goes live in the US, you should be able to drop the “.au” off the email address.

History of ClutchBet

ClutchBet is an Australian-based sports betting company. When ClutchBet announced plans to expand into the US, it designated Iowa, Tennessee, Maryland, Virginia and Colorado as targets where it planned to launch in early 2022. It appeared that ClutchBet might debut in Arizona before any of those when it gained a market access deal with BlueWater Resort & Casino in August 2021. However, BlueWater failed to obtain a betting license in the state, so a launch in early 2022 now appears the most likely next step for ClutchBet.
