Chris Paul when will be back return injury update

The Suns were just two victories away from hoisting the Larry O’Brien Trophy last summer. If Phoenix wants to get back to the NBA Finals, they will surely need their superstar point guard Chris Paul back on the court soon. CP3 injured his right thumb just prior to this year’s NBA All-Star break. Here we will look at when will Chris Paul return and be back on the floor for the Suns. We will also look at betting options for the Suns.

When will Chris Paul be back and return to Suns?

Chris Paul suffered an avulsion fracture in a Feb. 16 Phoenix victory over the Houston Rockets. So how long will the thumb injury keep him out and when will Chris Paul be back and return to the Suns? ESPN originally reported that Paul would be out 6-8 weeks with the thumb injury, so here is a time table with some potential return dates and opponents.

  • 6 Weeks: April 3 at Thunder, April 5 vs. Lakers, April 6 at Clippers, April 8 at Jazz
  • 7 Weeks: April 10 vs. Kings
  • 8 Weeks: NBA Playoffs begin
  • 9 Weeks: NBA Playoffs underway

It seems likely that the Suns will sit Paul for the remainder of the regular season, although there is the possibility that they could use one of those final games as a tune-up for the postseason.

How long will CP3 be out?

There have been no reports that CP3 had surgery on the thumb, as most avulsion fractures can be treated simply by resting and icing. And avulsion fracture is when a “small chunk of bone attached to a tendon or ligament gets pulled away from the main part of the bone,” according to MayoClinic.org.

Phoenix Suns betting

Sportsbooks and bettors are clearly not worried that Paul’s injury will impact the Suns’ chances of making a run at a ring. Phoenix had the lowest odds to win the NBA title on March 4 at +380. The Warriors had the second lowest price at +450.

Paul had relatively long odds to win NBA MVP even before the injury as his teammate. CP3 was still on the board at DraftKings on March 4 but was +30000. Paul’s Suns teammate Devin Booker was +2200 on March 4. Here are their current prices.
