Chuck Lorre, known for creating the hit CBS sitcom “Two and a Half Men” is making a new HBO Max sports betting series titled “How to Be a Bookie.” The series stars Sebastian Maniscalco as a struggling local bookie during the rise of legal sports betting. It has been announced that former “Two and a Half Men” star Charlie Sheen will be reuniting with Lorre. He is joining the cast of the new series.

HBO Max Star Studded Sports Betting Series

The series received an eight-episode order and Sheen is set to be a recurring character throughout. This is the first time Sheen and Lorre have worked together since their public fallout. Sheen famously had a public meltdown and NBC replaced him on his hit show, killing off his popular character.

Also confirmed to be in the series are Omar J. Dorsey, Andrea Anders, Vanessa Ferlito, and Jorge Garcia. The series’ official description reads: “A veteran bookie struggles to survive the impending legalization of sports gambling, increasingly unstable clients, family, co-workers, and a lifestyle that bounces him around every corner of Los Angeles, high and low.”

The HBO Max sports betting series is set to air sometime in 2023 but no official date has been set. With the ever-growing popularity of the legal sports betting world, it makes sense that shows like this will be created.

Sports Betting Media Becoming The Norm

Several popular media outlets have begun embracing the sports betting industry by creating shows surrounding the practice. Sports betting-focused programs include “Daily Wager” on ESPN, “NBABet” on the NBA App, and “Ultimate Betting Show” on NESN. Even FanDuel TV hosts a 24/7 channel dedicated to sports betting content for users.

Adam Sandler famously starred in the sports betting drama “Uncut Gems.” This showed that the trend is not limited to TV and streaming.

As U.S. sports betting continues to gain popularity, fans can expect more media to embrace the practice with content. This is just another step in the evolution of the sports betting market.
