Bayern Munich Seeking to Set the Tone

Bayern Munich ran their mark to 17 wins and two draws in their last 19 matches overall as they downed Mainz on the road Saturday. Die Roten stand atop the Bundesliga with a record of 26 wins, 4 draws and one loss. They stand 15 points clear of Borussia Dortmund for the top spot.

Against Mainz, Bayern was sluggish in the opening half but got in gear after intermission. Die Roten used a spirited rally and kept their unbeaten string alive. Paris Saint-Germain Looking to Defend Home Turf

Paris Saint-Germain won for the eighth time in their last nine matches as they posted a clean sheet on the road against Angers Saturday in Ligue 1 action. PSG ran their record in Ligue 1 to 22 wins, three draws and five losses on the year. They own a six-point lead over Lens for the top spot in the league.

Against Angers, Paris Saint-Germain had an early chance only for keeper Herve Koffi to be up to the task. Less than a minute after that opportunity, Lee Kang-in gave PSG the 1-0 advantage in the seventh minute. Paris Saint-Germain maintained their pressure and eventually took a 2-0 advantage in the 39th minute on a goal by Senny Mayulu.

In the second half, PSG kept pressing and it paid dividends. Lucas Beraldo headed in a cross from Lee in the 52nd minute for a 3-0 advantage. Paris Saint-Germain continued to control the contest and didn’t let Angers make a push. They were stingy defensively even after Gonçalo Ramos was handed a red card in the 74th minute. Paris Saint-Germain held a 17-6 edge in shot attempts and a 10-1 margin in shots on goal in the victory.

Bayern Munich vs. Paris Saint-Germain Prediction

We’ve got a matchup of a pair of sides that have no problem scoring goals. Bayern Munich owned a +14 goal differential in league play of the Champions League. Meanwhile, PSG was a +10 in that department. PSG is a +11 in goal differential in the knockout stages. On the flip side, Bayern Munich is a +11 as well entering this one. While we know the teams can score, this match may be a bit more defensively oriented than one might expect. Bayern had just four shots on target in the first leg against Real Madrid in the quarterfinals. PSG kept Liverpool from recording a shot on target and just three shot attempts in the first leg at Parc des Princes. Therefore, this screams a defensive struggle. Take the shocking under as a result.

Our Prediction: Under 2.5 Goals (+225, FanDuel) or Under 3.5 Goals (-112, FanDuel)
