2022 champions league odds

This has been one of the best UEFA Champions League group stages in recent memory, as we enter the knockout rounds in our pursuit of handicapping 2022 Champions League odds.

Manchester City vs. Paris Saint-Germain, Atlético Madrid vs. Liverpool, Bayern Munich vs. Barcelona, and Chelsea vs. Juventus were some of the standout fixtures.

This is the first time Barcelona have failed to qualify for the Knockout Stage since 2003-04. Strong sides Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, Atalanta, Sevilla, and FC Porto have all exited the competition.

FC Sheriff Tiraspol lit up the competition on Matchday 2. The Moldovan minnows shocked the soccer world by beating Real Madrid 2-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu to record the biggest result in their history.

It’s a shame UEFA has decided to scrap this format in 2024/25 and expand the competition to a single league consisting of 36 clubs playing five fixtures at home and five away. It is unknown how each club’s 10 opponents will be selected, and there will be an extra play-off round prior to the last 16.

Let’s hope the magic and excitement aren’t lost, but for now we’ll dive into the 2022 Champions League schedule and odds. Click on the odds below to bet now.

Knockout Stage Draw

First Round of 16 Draw Voided!

A technical error robbed the world from seeing Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo battle it out one more time. Manchester United’s ball wasn’t included in the sides eligible to face Atlético Madrid. To preserve integrity, UEFA announced the draw would be redone in its entirety.

Official Round of 16 Draw

Red Bull Salzburg vs. Bayern Munich
Sporting Lisbon vs. Manchester City
Benfica vs. Ajax
Chelsea vs. Lille OSC
Atlético Madrid vs. Manchester United
Villarreal vs. Juventus
Inter Milan vs. Liverpool
Paris Saint-Germain vs. Real Madrid

The standout ties are Paris Saint-Germain vs. Real Madrid, Atlético Madrid vs. Manchester United, and Inter Milan vs. Liverpool.

Los Blancos must be seething with the outcome as they now have to face Messi, Neymar, Kylian Mbappé, and their former captain Sergio Ramos.

Jürgen Klopp’s side will feel pretty hard done by after originally being drawn against Austrian team Red Bull Salzburg.

Man Utd will feel relieved it’s the Wanda Metropolitano they’re traveling to and not the Parc des Princes.

USMNT fans are hoping to see Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic battle it out with Lille’s Timothy Weah. This could be the first time two Americans play against each other in the Knockout Stage.

CBS Sports Network will broadcast select games throughout the season.

Univision Deportes owns the Spanish language rights.

Important Champions League Betting Info

Moneyline bets are settled on the result at the end of Regular Time (90 minutes plus injury time). Be aware that games can go to extra time in the Knockout Stage if the aggregated scoreline is a draw at the end of the second leg.

If it is still a draw at the end of extra time, penalties will decide the game. Whatever the outcome, all Moneyline bets will be settled on the result at the end of Regular Time.

Another rule to remember, UEFA announced earlier this season that the away goals tiebreaker will be scrapped. That rule had stated the team with more goals “away from home” wins when the total goals scored by each team are tied through two legs.

Now, if the scoreline is tied at the end of the second leg, the game will go to extra time. Keep this in mind when betting on ‘Team To Advance’ markets.
