The Caesars Sportsbook New York sports betting footprint just got a lot bigger, and it is wasting no time before NY online sports betting launches.
Yesterday, Madison Square Garden Entertainment (MSGE) announced a multi-year marketing partnership with Caesars Sportsbook – New York City’s most famous arena and its media empire has made Caesars the official sports betting partner of the Knicks and Rangers.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Caesars Sportsbook – a renowned brand in the sports betting industry–to the MSG Sports and MSG Entertainment families,” MSGE Executive Vice President of Marketing Partnerships Ron Skotarczak said in a statement. “Caesars Sportsbook is a key player in the growing world of sports betting–and we look forward to utilizing this partnership to further strengthen our brands’ connection with Caesars customers, while also providing the company with significant exposure across our unrivaled set of assets.”
MSG to be laden with Caesars Sportsbook branding
Details of the deal reveal that Caesars Sportsbook branding will be prominent in Madison Square Garden. Arena attendees will see the branding on LED displays in the arena, GradenVision features, and digital display boards outside of MSG and in Moynihan Train Hall. Anyone watching Knicks and Rangers games on TV will see Caesars Sportsbook branding, too.
“Caesars Sportsbook is ready for expansion into New York,” Caesars Digital Co-President Eric Hession said. “To partner with these legendary New York brands for compelling creative content and branding uniquely positions us to reach the avid sports fans in the region.”
Betting lounge in the works at Madison Square Garden
One of the interesting developments announced with the Caesers-MSG deal is a “premium hospitality space” in MSG. The space will be a Caesers-branded area that will be open during all Knicks and Rangers games, according to the release.
The companies did not specify where the lounge will be located. However, they did say that the space will undergo a refurbishment before the 2022-2023 Knicks and Rangers seasons. The revamped area will include a series of perks for Caesars Rewards members, including special guest appearances and giveaways.
JB Smoove content series coming to MSG Networks
Love him or hate him, JB Smoove will become an even more prominent figure in New York as a result of the new deal.
MSGE and Caesars plan to launch a new content series on MSG Networks titled “One Course with JB Smoove.”
“A longtime Knicks fan and avid New York sports fan, JB Smoove embodies the legendary Caesar in Caesars Sportsbook’s national advertising campaign,” MSGE’s statement said.
Smoove said he was “thrilled” to partner with MSG Networks. In a promo video for the partnership, Smoove is shown standing on the court in an empty MSG shouting, “This is my house, baby! Caesars in the building, baby! This is the mecca of it all for NYC.”
Launch date still unclear for NY sports betting
Earlier this month, the New York State Gaming Commission (NYSGC) awarded mobile sports wagering licenses to eight platform providers. Those providers will launch nine sports betting operators in the state. When that launch happens, though, is unknown. The NYSGC hasn’t hinted at any launch dates.
However, it would make the most sense for mobile sports betting to launch in December, ahead of the NFL playoffs, the Super Bowl, and March Madness.
