On Thursday night in an East Division clash, the Montreal Alouettes host the Ottawa Redblacks. In this Redblacks vs. Alouettes prediction, we preview the division matchup and share the latest odds, plus value prop bets.

The Redblacks (0-9) are the lone winless team in the CFL and have lost to the Alouettes (8-1) twice this season, with the last meeting a 34-13 Week 9 blowout loss at home. Montreal has the best record in the CFL, and they have won six in a row since losing to Edmonton in Week 3.

Canadian sportsbooks have Montreal as the big favorite at -13.5 with a total of 62.5.

Redblacks have Issues on Both Sides of the Ball

Ottawa has had issues on both sides of the ball in their winless season, ranking dead last in points per game and opponents’ points per game.

After the Redblacks covered the spread in two of their first four games, they have failed to cover in four of their last five games and have lost by an average of 18.3 ppg.

In Ottawa’s last game, they were on the road in a 33-21 loss to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, where they had more yards (333 to 305) but only rushed for 27 yards and were 2-for-4 in the red zone. Jake Maier passed for 314 yards with two TDs and a pick, and three players had at least 57 receiving yards. Lead RB Greg Bell only rushed for 17 yards on six carries, and he has failed to rush for over 19 yards in four of the last five games, including the last three.

The Redblacks have been moving the ball on offense but have struggled to score points. They were only 2-4 in the red zone in the last game, and in the bad loss to Montreal in Week 9, they were 1-5 in the Red Zone, and their defense also gave up over 500 yards.

Alouettes Have Been a Good Bet

Not only has Montreal won six in a row, but they have also covered the spread in their last five games. They are rested coming off a bye week, and in their last game, they won 48-30 facing an Edmonton team that handed them their only loss and is atop the West Division.

The Alouettes’ offense is averaging the most yards per game (455.7) and ranks second in the CFL, averaging 35.7 ppg.

In the win over Edmonton in their last game, Davis Alexander lit it up, passing for 352 yards with four TDs and one INT; Tyler Snead and Tyson Philpot combined for 277 receiving yards and four scores; and Travis Theis rushed for 100 yards, averaging 7.1 yards per carry.

Alexander leads the CFL in passing yards, Philpot and Snead rank first and second, respectively, in receiving yards, and Theis has the third most rushing yards.

Montreal is 5-0 at home this season.

Redblacks vs. Alouettes Prediction

Montreal is rolling, winning six in a row, and while they beat Ottawa by only two points in Week 4, they beat them by 21 points in Week 9. The Alouettes have the best record in the league, while the Redblacks remain winless. Montreal will continue to rack up the points in this game, while Ottawa will continue to struggle on both sides of the ball. Like the last meeting, this one will not be close, as the Alouettes will easily win and cover the double-digit spread.
